I have been growing for years and never have had this problem before. I have had 3 plants all about 5 inches high die and when I pull them up it is because their roots are gone. Has anyone else ever had this problem and figure out what it was/

Are you sure the root system was developed? If plants are over watered the root system won’t develop. Not sure if that helps, but without more information that’s my best guess.
