Dirt start and move seedlings to hydroponics

When you start your seeds in dirt then transfer them to hydroponics, do you trim the roots. Because when I rinsed off the dirt it was a ball of roots. Not sure how the roots can find their way down thru the basket

I don’t trim the roots - just rest them inside the bottom of the net pot and make sure your airstone is strong enough to blow bubbles of water up onto the bottom of the pot.

For what it’s worth- in the future you ought to start in a hydro friendly medium. Rockwool cubes are my favorite but peat plugs like Root Riot cubes work fine too.

Thanks for the tip, your right about starting them in something else. This was a spur of the moment thing. If this works out I’ll switch to hydro completely.
