Desperately need professional help with my two small plants. Soils, fertilizer. here is everything I was told to buy and what I have been doing and what I need to do before they die

SOILS:

Kind Soil “Hot Soil”
Coco Coco Pearl
Fox Frams Potting soil- made from Ocean Forest with earth worms and bat Guano
Happy Frog Potting Soil Contains MyCorrhizae & Humid Acid
Fox Farms Coco Loco Potting soil.
Nutrients:
Calimag Quart 1-0-0
PH UP PH down Hydro Control kit
General Hydro Flora Gorw Bloom Micro Combo Fertilizer
Robert Bergman’s Grow Nutrients

These were everything I got and I was told by someone who has been doing this for decades and buy’s from mainly you and a few from Nirvana shop but at this point he wants you to tell me what to use since i started growing yours first. As he has helped me to pick everything out and I assume he would be embarrassed if he had to ask you these question because he has such success except with mine. So that is where I need you guys.

So you know the big three in the back are Tomato plants as I am doing other things since I live in NY and only 2 plants at a time. The Girl scout extreme is that small one and my second LSD is tall. 1 LSD grew and my GS Extreme germinated but looks very small for its age in the rooter compared to the LSD plant.

Please tell me which of the above you prefer and if you would do a combination of some of those soils. Also should I only use your Bergman’s Fertilizer or the Flora Bloom and what do you suggest with either of those so I can get these to actually grow. I am absolutes amazed, I bought the best of everything and so far something that should be relatively easy is Turning into a nightmare. If the Bergman Fertilizer which I assume you prefer how much for two plants of the starter and how much to poor into a 1 gallon water container?

At this stage.

LEDS are 600 watts made for 4x4 grow Gorilla tent and these are really LEDs not the ones online for crazy cheap prices which is impossible according to many that they are really putting that much light out. Gorilla tent, top line carbon filter and additional fan, 2 other fans, Humidity, temperature and moister checker, PH_ Water and light. Tent is around 85F degrees high, low 75 F and about 10 inches from top of plant. Temperature ranges from 75-85 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity in the tent is 10% low high 27%. No CO2 as of yet Strains 1 CS extreme and one LSD.

Yes, Ventilation system, with huge carbon filter and top of line fan and ducts to keep it fresh and cool with 2 additional fans for day and two for night if needed. Have a dehumidifier but as of now I do not need it.

I’m keeping the lights about a foot from the top of the seedlings in a grow tent with 2 fans the temperature is 75-85F. The literature said not to over water but the seedlings are very dry overnight. They are. In rapid rooters in a grow tray. Do I need them in individual pots? It’s very difficult so far. If yes what size pot and should I use a smaller one but then I might have to move it again which I would prefer not to do unless you 100% suggest it.

Also, As I have been reading some suggest to use pots with holes on the side mine only have them on the bottom. Is this an issue?

Once I mix everything would you take the one’s in the Rapid Rooter and then do what. Also with the different fertilizers should I have everything pre made in gallon bottles of water and should it be kept in the refrigerator or at room temperature room or in n a warmer room or darker. I have all of the above.

From here how is it best way I should proceed. Your help is greatly needed and appreciated especially as I believe you want me to have and find success with this as and again I was told your a top shot and I am hoping you will help me get through this odd stage of everything is growing except what i really want to grow.

What is the best set up after the Rooter do I put it with the main soil or soils in a larger pot once the roots are coming out? Fertilizer schedule. Flora Grown or Bergman’s? What light schedule, is 24 hours okay. Watering how should i keep everything from main water to the water with the fetizlizer again room temperature, heated room, in darkness room temperature, etc…

Do you ever spray the top leaves or just enough for 20% run off into the bottom of the rooter. If you want me to move them from the rooter which i think is best what size container 1/2 or full gallon and is holes on bottom okay or do I need the ones with holes on the side. Once they are in larger containers I can have those higher then the tomatoes and egg plants but at under a foot my LEDs are so strong is raises the temperature TO 90+ SO i LOWERED THE DISTANCE. what IS THE IDEAL HEAT AND WHAT IS THE HIGHEST AND LOWEST i CAN GET AWAY WITH. HOW FAR FROM THE TOP OF THE PLANTS?

Here is everything I have and am using. However, I want you to let me know which soils you think would be best or what combination of the different types unless you want me to stay with one. I also have been testing my PH and the water is around 6.5-6.8 ish. Please let me know which of these either for all of your seeds or some would work best in
A specific soil.

Just want to thank everyone in advance who can help me get the soils right and the percentages if I should use more then one.

Thanks,
Bentley123

Here is everything I have and am using, I need your help!

@Bentley try to not cross post topics and it will be easier to help

I apologize. I am just stuck and figured if I posted to a few different areas hopefully someone would see it and offer some help.

What is the best area to ask these questions. I would like to get them into larger pots to offer them better soils. any help is greatly appreciated.

Please except my apology for posting the same thing in my 2-3 postings. Not sure which section would get me more advice and better suggestions if that makes sense. new to the forum.

I do appreciate your feedback.
Regards,

So unless I’m confused, you’re asking which soil and how high to have your lights? And not for response to a specific issue with your plants?

Out of those soils happy frog is probably the easiest in my opinion, but the others are fine too. Just keep in mind that any of soils will require your water and feed be ph’d differently than any of the coco based medium.

Which specific lights do you have? Sounds like they are probably too close if you’re in the seedling stage. Probably the reason they are drying out so quickly.

Have you downloaded the free grow bible yet?
There are alot of threads and grow journals on here that would answer alot of your questions… which you seem to have alot of… try to ask a couple of questions at a time as to not overload me or you in trying to get information back and forth…
Fox farm soil would be fine and sense your new to this I would not add anything else to your soil until a month or so has past …then you can decide which nutrients you want to use…
Having the best of everything will not get you to your goals… a race car doesn’t do me any good if I don’t know how to drive it…
Get some pics of what you have going on and ask specific questions and we will try to get you squared away…

Ill adjust my lights but of the soils would you use 1 type or mix 1 or 2 or is that making things to complicated?

Lights 600 Watt LEDS for a 4x4 gorilla tent. Waters PH is 6.6 to 7.

I appreciate any other guidance or help you can provide and Ill be happy to answer any more specific questions as I do not like wasting peoples time so Thanks.

Chances are your lights don’t pull 600 Watts, what is make and model?

I have mixed them. It all depends on what you’re trying to do?

First off welcome to the forum, everyone is very eager to help. Your light should be farther than one foot from the seedlings. Around 18-24inches or more would be better. You should also cover your seedlings with a transparent water bottle or even a glass to keep humidity up. Just remove it once a day to allow fresh air in. Also never mix your nutrients in advance only for use that day. If I mis read that disregard. Water should be stored at room temperature or warmer. Never cold, or it shocks the roots. (Think of a cold lake you’re wading into! Woo!) the water you use should be PH’d AFTER you add all nutrients. PH is constantly changing even standing water overnight. Hope this helps. @Bentley

Hello, and thank you for responding. I do apologize for the numerous questions as I do have a Bergman person who i know personally helping me on the side but he switched to Hydro a while back and so far I am using what has given him such success but now even he is stumped.

I undertstand you point regarding the race car a bought more then I needed but it sounds as though most people have their own mixes and procedures that work for them and hence why I mentioned the GS Extreme and LSD as maybe someone has grown them and found success with a certain or combination of soils.

Ill get everything you asked for and lets see if that would help if you are willing to allow me to ask you these questions as I don’t want to annoy anyone.

Let me see what I can get for you that would make this easier. and thanks again

Pictures do tend to help are we diagnosing a plant or helping to get one started?

#12

I agree with @Covertgrower. Too high temp, too low humidity for seedlings and the light is probably too close as well. Pics pics pics.

#13

"I do have a Bergman person but he switched to hydro "

I enjoyed that

#14

Thank you Ill try and get those up

#15

Ill get those pictures up and Ill reduce the lights and Ill increase the humidity but ill get you those pictures first. Any suggestions on a soil? Until I can get you more information, pictures, etc…

Thank You

that was huge. Thank you so much. You all seem to really care and want to help. I am starting to feel better. Ill make some adjustments and I will get you anything else I can if you are willing to offer advice as you have done.

As I mentioned earlier or one of my unfortunately numerous questions. what soil would you use if you had to pick one or two. I am not opposed to doing everything properly even if it requires more time. I just hate making mistakes as a lot of what I have done I was told to do. which can be frustrating but I understand this is a process.

Just thought it would be much easier especially with the help I alluded to. Thankfully, he advised me to take it to you guys for some fine tuning or in my case maybe a full U-Turn.

If their is anything I can ever do for you guys I would be happy to help but at this point I would suggest the obvious to take any questions to others. hopefully I can help someone one day.

The soil is not that important. My first grow was in MiracleGrow potting soil and it worked fine. Not optimal, but all plants lived and went on to flower. It is important not to burn the new seedlings with nutes at first. They need a few real leaves before they need any nutes. Same thing with light. Some people just start them with fluorescents. When they get a few leaves you can go stronger. I was an outdoor grower so my new plants spent a week in shade before they got any direct sun.

Same with water: Keep your sprouts in transparent humidity cups or a dome and spray them with pHed water daily. Then when they get some leaves, no more dome or sprayer. Water cups daily or pots every few days letting them dry out mostly between watering. If the leaves droop you waited too long. Water them right away and they should perk up.

Once they get 4 or 5 real leaves you can start feeding them. Just pick one nutrient manufacturer and follow their schedule. Doesn’t matter much which one, as long as you don’t use two or more and burn the plant. The instructions on the nutrient bottle and the schedule say how to dilute it. Usually something like “1 teaspoon per gallon” but follow the specific directions. Always adjust PH after you mix in nutes. 6.5 is fine for soil.

Hi, I just made the adjustments you recommended. Quick question which I know is a little more complicated.

Which soil should I use as two of them that are in the Rapid Rooter probably need to be put into soil. I have a few different types but would like to know what you would suggest so I can get these to the next stage.

Yes, I noticed the PH even in water can change on the environment hence why I check it before I give them water. The dome is back on the plants and the lights are at you height that you recommended.

Ill wait for your response and thanks. Great advice.

#19

I can do that. what soil or soils do you use now or which have you found the best success with as they might need a larger pot as the roots are coming out of the Rapid Rooter.

Thanks for responding and telling me what you have learned. I am very appreciative…

If roots are coming out of the Rapid Rooter cube that’s very good. It’s expected even. It’s time to plant the whole Rooter cube in a pot. I used a clear plastic pint container with several holes punched around the bottom. I did that so I could see roots and know when that needed repotting in a big pot. But roots don’t like light so I made a cardboard and duct tape surround to go around the pot. That way the roots would have darkness and yet I would be able to check for them.

Pick a soil (any of yours are fine) and fill your container. Make a hole for your Rooter cube and put it in. Pack the soil around it and water with pHed water so the roots make good contact with the new soil. Don’t forget to adjust your light for the height of the new pot.
