Dense and fading

New grower here. This plant seemed to be ok, but lately has got really dense, and the leaves are starting to brown. It also does not seem to be growing much taller. Any advice? Thx A

Welcome to the forum.

The dark, waxy leaves with burned edges are a symptom of nitrogen toxicity. What soil are you using and what are your feeding the plant?

Thanks for you quick response MG. I planted in an organic potting mix. About 10 days ago i gave some blood and bone bc I though not enough nutrients. I read B&B had NFP. Looks like a mistake. Anything i can do do you reckon.? btw, it has been really hot here for 2 weeks.

Brand and type?

What are B&B and NFP?

thanks for the confirmation. Anything I can do do you think?

B & B = Blood and Bone. Sorry meant NPS (Nit, Phos Sulphure). Not sure of soil brand from the local hardware, same as i use in the garden.

These soils are often a problem. Cannabis has very specific needs (e.g. pH buffering.) Hardware store soils often have time release fertilizers in them. These soils are bad because they nuke your plant with nitrogen and submarine your pH every time you water.

I suggest transplanting it into a cannabis friendly soil such as a Fox Farm product, Roots Organics, or Black Magic.

Weed has specific needs from fertilizer too. Some fertilizers (Miracle Grow products, for example) don’t get along with weed. Jack’s 321, Fox Farm fertilizers, General Hydroponics, and Advanced Nutrients are all good products.

I expect the plant is overfed and your pH is out of whack. It is helpful to manage these things by routinely testing the runoff pH and PPM when you water.

Sorry there isn’t a more simple answer.

It’s what I expected, as the website for the product says “Boosted with 5 IN 1 Fertiliser.” Not good. Your soil and fertilizers are likely burning your plant.

I would stop feeding it until you have proper products.

Probably good for tomatos, but not for cannabis.

You are going to want a good cannabis soil and a fertilizer that cannabis will tolerate.

There are a few growers around who are from AU. I’ll tag one who can help you find proper products in AU. @Aussie_autos.

I use coco coir when doing organics i mix in all the dry amendments into it or i use richgro black marvel potting soil its great

I think it something called Gelato Auto

What amendments do you add to the Black Marvel?

mate if she’s in that premium mix and you added a blood and bone based fertiliser, you might have accidentally doubled up on a few nutrients, like, as mentioned, nitrogen. That stuff isn’t just a soil builder, it feeds the plant as well. reducing the nitrogen is the obvious solution. I think I would re pot her in something cannabis appropriate, and then just calm down on the nutes mate, she’ll be fine. :sunglasses:

Aqua Gardening and Hydro Experts are my go to suppliers. All the potting mixes are expensive. But if @Aussie_autos likes Black Marvel, I will be trying that too. :v: Remember, potting mix can be reused, so you’ll get your value out of it.
