Dehumidifiers. Increase maintenance frequency the more it runs

Just a reminder to those like me having really low temps and high humidity outside. This is gonna run our dehumidifiers very hard. My built in hygrometer was almost covered. Looks like brand new now. Running 11% less watts. I also modified the way it gets to the drip pan while I was in there… Engineers… :person_facepalming:. So here we see 3 things. Dust laden in the air tunnel. Slime on and running down through drip tray to reservoir. Then the hygrometer clogged. If I didn’t know to clean it. In two weeks it wouldn’t stopped completely.woukd have only needed that sensor cleaned though. Free vs another $150

I have been putting off doing a clean up on mine. Think I better get it done!
My ac filters need cleaning too as well as my fan blades…

Good tip. Matted dust like that can be a fire hazard. I run HEPA filters throughout the house to keep the air as clean as possible. I run a couple of bitcoin mining rigs too and I used get these dust problems in my rigs over time. Electronics are a magnet for dust since they are charged. I just cleaned them for the 1st time in 2 years and they weren’t too bad.

Sounds like I better clean my dehumidifiers too.
