As you all know the midwest is in a deep freeze. I went out to my grow room (against safety warnings. - 43 outside with windchill) and saw my 2 of my drying plants sitting in temps of 20 degrees and the 2 of my plants awaiting harvest in the next 5 days sitting around 16%…my heater is working so hard that it shuts off eventually. This us expected to last til Friday morning…does anyone know how this will effect my drying plants as well as my mature plants approaching harvest? I’m scared I’m gonna.lose an entire crop. My lights will kick on shortly and help but my drying crops wont get temps much higher that 45/50 over the next 36 hours. Advice? Please tell me they can survive this??? Thanks.
Is there any way you can dry them somewhere else? Somewhere warmer?
Dude it’s 8 degrees here in the Midwest without the windchill. Quit whining just kidding! I would move those drying buds inside if you can and try to get a bigger heater if possible.
Cant get them inside my house… the room is well insulated but it’s a shed with a room built in it. Can only do so much. I have a back up heater but together the draw alot of power and once the lights kick out it will he hit and miss as to when it will blow a fuse.
Do you have a propane heater? Might be a way to avoid the power issues.
No but I will be looking into one for next year…I need them to survive this. Dont have alternatives here.
My grow room is in my cellar and I’m having a tough time today too. -17 with wind chill. Can’t even go outside to smoke and kids didn’t goto school. This shit sucks.
-17 to cold to smoke haha come to Canada we hit -47 C other day
At those temps, low humidity is gonna be a real issue.
You might consider adding a humidifier
Damn metric system. No idea how cold that is lol.
-28.94C here right now. -20f with current wind chill -52f on the farm.
My.humidifer is the only thing keeping my dry tent at 27 degrees…but I’m hoping once my.lights.come on. They drive the heat up to the high 40s and low 50s which I can live with. Once that happens I’ll be able to heat the dry tent enough to get by. Prolly almost perfect actually. But having the room to hit the perfect climate like i have been wont happen til the weekend. I think we can survive as long as they dont frost. If anyone disagrees please tell me why… thanks.
I figured you guys were getting it worse than here.
keep the air circulating gently …best of British luck to you.
Lights are on with the little heat, my tower is producing. It’s already at 43 in the tent with plants in final days before harvest. Should get up to 50s maybe low 60s if I’m lucky in the bloom tent. Surprisingly my drying tent is at 60 already with the humidifier and ceramic heater. Safe to say I’m in the clear for now. Tonight will be another dangerous drop in temps for my ladies. Thank god they are ready to be chopped!! But with the lights on…I should be able to generate enough heat to survive. Wish me luck!! Thanks for the 2 cents!!
@sutton is never to cold to smoke, this guy is having a midwest brain freeze…I’m toking hard because my plants are at risk!!!
If your plants are that close to harvest why not just chop them now.
It hit -25°f with a windchill of -51°f here. I had to run 1 heater and a dryer in my basement just to keep it at 66°f in my basement with the lights off.
Can u make the incloser little smaller within the shed ? Hang blankets ? Tarps or build new wall to block it in ?
I smoke in a heated ventilated garage with lazy boy so I’m not to hard per say haha
