Dazed and confused *&?

When you offer help, its spot on. Just saying. You had great mentors, and you give off that positive vibe with the knowledge you soaked up when sharing.

@jvillano42 You can always find cheap alternatives for things. When I started, spent $700 on 4x4 tent, fan/filter, medium quality light, Advanced Nutrients pH Perfect nute line, and ProMix for soil. Over time, I upgraded my light.
What to do with the old light? Well, I have a 4’8" crawlspace under the house. $40 for electrical wire and plugs and stuff, some old cardboard boxes, presto!

I now have a veg area, and just outside that is a cloning area under a tiny T5 light.

I’m looking for white cardboard or white plastic to line it so that it’s more reflective, but on principal refuse to spend $50 for a mylar roll to line the new “tent”. Since this is only a veg area, I didn’t get a filter for this space, and only have 1 little fan for air movement down there (picked up off Craigslist for about $5 each…think I bought 4 or 5 of them!). You can get things for cheap if you know where to look. Then after a few grows and you’ve saved many $$$ by not buying weed, then you can reinvest in better equipment.
Gotta start somewhere! Get (and keep) growing!

Spudgunner thanks for the info so yea after reading comments and continuing research I decided to use my attic and just stay indoors I have double the space no other use for attic so no disturbances and can easily control temp and light also funny you mentioned your home made grow box because my wheels got cranking on some card board I have laying around also and I may buy the mylar to line it or just paint it white and seeing your pics kinda reinforced that thought !!! Going to stick with 2 maybe 3 autos just in case 1 doesn’t make it and grow from there adding on like you and a few others suggest i mean that’s why we are all here to share our experiences and again thanks for the info

That’s why we’re all here, to learn from each other! Proud you learned something from me today! I’m glad you found a good growspace, pretty hidden too, being in an attic! Just watch for water leaks! I don’t have that problem being concrete, just the cold floor.

How big will your space be? That will determine your lighting requirements. You may only grow 2 or 3 now, but you WILL grow into all your available space    And if you get into photos, which are much more forgiving than autos, you could separate the space into a clone station, a veg area and a flower space.

My tent is in my attic not as easy to control atmosphere as the bedroom previously but I have it figured pretty good and low budget. I bought rescue mylar blankets easier to handle but moved to panda film. I would live to disassemble and use the whole area but it would be harder to control the atmosphere.

Spudgunner attic is dry and as far as space I have 8x4 and 8x3 between 4 and 6 ft tall useable space I’m starting on 4x3 only using 3 5gal bc of my light only being 140w but if all goes well on first grow yea I’ll probably expand lol :bamboo:

Bunger I’ll be using autos with fan and gable for circulation question is during the hot months it can get above 90 or higher in my attic so that’s my concern about being up there

Okay so what I have is a turbine vent that was on the roof before my construction, I put a 12" temp exhaust fan and it gives the tent negative pressure sucks the air out I use my inkbird temperature tools.

I also opened my end up to the othe exhaust fan so between the 2 it maintains they are both closed off for winter but its nice having fresh air.
back wall is covered with star blanket.
Even summer months I have a portable air-conditioner didnt have to use. Biggest thing is air moving at all times even dark hrs, one of my lessons learned just ask me I have a book full. Lol

Hi. I used a couple of “reflective safety blankets” - the cost was pennies.

Ok so update, been 9 days since my grow journey began, and thanks to all my groomie supporters it’s been exciting!! so now for the update/new questions
So out of 3 autos, 1 has now 2 true leafs, the other 2 barley poking through soil, I have made my version of a grow room 8x2x5, 1 oscillating fan, (1 fan for exhaust tomorrow) 1 oscillating heater, 2 140 w led (2 more coming tomorrow) total of 280w, and as mentioned 3 autos in 5g pots with pro mix potting soil no nutes. Now I still have dome on the seedling that is about 2" because although temp in the room is stable and controllable the humidity is not as cooperative, when I remove the dome humidity drops below 40% as you can see the thermometers I have on the floor 1 in each corner, 1 in the middle, and the humidity in the dome is 80% with same temp as rest of the room, and I mist the room once in the morning once at nite, after reading multiple post on this subject like with everything in life everyone has a different opinion, so question 1 dome on or off? And Im referring to the sprouted plant. Not sure because some say you can leave it on forever adjusting dome height of course and others say 7 days and of course there’s the anti dome growers as well. Dome off means lower humidity because I can’t seem to get it above 40% even with the humidifier, although I just put it in tonight maybe over time it will increase but by then with the autos I think I’ll need it lower anyway. I will include pics and wait for any and all helpful advice! Thanks in advance!

Also sorry if pics are not proper format only way I can figure out how to get them uploaded

Hey there neighbor . Im having the same temp issues myself, my basement is too cool this time of year. I bumped the temp up and held in humidity using a small/medium clear tote and heating pad. Mine seem to have perked up and grew 2 leaves over night after backing off on watering and going from mid 60’s to 76-78. Idk, maybe its just what I am growing but they seem to prefer the warmer temps, it was the same through germination. I also have been keeping humidity at 60-70%

Also, I would put a couple movers blankets (harbor freight has them cheap) on the roof joists to close off the “ceiling” that is where most of your heat is going to go. Keep the blanket as low as you can to trap the heat lower. You can move it up later if you have to.

Mylar emergency blankets are cheap and help with reflexion and heat.

Hi Dieselgrwr thanks for the reply yea the heat isn’t the issue I’m holding around 75-80 it’s the humidity I’m concerned with and whether I should dome them or not which is the only way to humidity above 40% also I raised them closer to the LEDs because o read to keep about 2ft above but I’m also reading 6inches not sure if LEDs are going to have neg impact being that close but I’m thinking no because low to no heat from the leds
