Curled up leaves

these leaves are curling up and im trying to understand why? (im thinking light burn?) the plants are 19 days old, no nutes, in jiffy pods/FFOF. tap water is properly phd. kept humditiy in the 40-80% but mostly 60-70. temps 70-80. light is a cheap “otryad400 watt” LED off amazon that really pulls watts in the 40s. i had the light up pretty high. thought the plants may be stretching. moved the lights down to 16" then 12" and now back up to about 16". the plants also seem ready for transplant as i can see just a couple roots coming out the bottom of 2 plants. (out of 4)
could it be a root issue or should i maybe start feeding nutes? i plan on transplanting today or tomorrow, and again the plants are 19 days old.

Can you take those pics in natural light. Blurple lights make it hard if not impossible to diagnose problems. :v::call_me_hand:

sorry. new here!

They don’t look bad to me at all but this is only my third grow. You may be getting close to transplant time. I know a few people that can always help out. Btw welcome to the best place you can be. I’ll tag a couple of members that can help. @Covertgrower @dbrn32 @Oldguy @PurpNGold74 can y’all help our new friend out :sunglasses::call_me_hand::v:

this is the tallest of 4. definitely closest to the light. the 2nd tallest one also shows but the other 2 shorter plants do not curl

I may be wrong but I think they are a little thirsty and may could use 1/4 or 1/2 strength nutes. But wait for a more informed opinion. They will be with you shortly :sunglasses::v::call_me_hand:

Being honest, I don’t really see much wrong with them. They seem to have stretched some, will probably see a lot of that if you’re using 40ish watt light. You will want bigger light sooner than later if that’s the case.

i have a 1500 watt mieemclux LED coming in a few days actually. it has solid reviews on amazon and scooped it for 100 on best offer on ebay. it actually pulls 260 with good PAR. should i add some weak nutrients WHEN i transplant tomorrow? or wait til they settle in? also using that mykos stuff for the transplant

bravo on the swift replies btw. you guys rock

You’re transplanting to ocean forest? That will have plenty enough nutrient charge to feed them for a few weeks.

The curling may be a normal thing for your girls. Does it coincide with lights on /off. As in just before lights on or
Lights off. At almost 3 weeks and with roots showing out the bottom I would probably transplant as mentioned. And agree with @dbrn32 that no nutes needed in the FFOF for a bit yet.
Plants look good btw. And welcome :+1::v:

so theyve been in FFOF w their jiffy pods for a couple weeks now. also transplanting into more fresh FFOF with 33% perlite. i mixed up some nutes at like 1/4 strength and will wait to use it until after the tranplant. dont wanna shock em too much but also kinda wanna give the roots a SUPER light misting of nutrients when i add the mykos… thoughts? if the FFOF hasnt burned my babies yet, theyve gotta be pretty resilient

FFOF has plenty of nutrients. I wouldn’t use them at all.

Just watch your runoff ppm whenever you feed them the plain water. Once the ppms get lower then your recommended feed chart, you can just pick up in the feeding schedule then. Usually I would wait until you get less then 1000ppm coming out.

did i waste money on veg nutrients? i only plan on veging for 45ish days. if the FFOF has so many nutrients why do some people use nutes with it during the veg period? whats a good sign that the plants actually WANT nutrients? some say FFOF has enough and some say to add 1/4 strength after the first 2/3 weeks. ive seen that plants with only water do fine without nutes in the FFOF. but some say they do even BETTER with a small small amount… anyone thats actually done both? or has anyone seen a side by side?

A ppm meter to test runoff is your best option. My plants were good for almost 8 weeks in it. By the time I started adding nutrients they were in midflower

Most plants slightly yellow at the lower leaves when craving Nitrogen. Other signs for other nutes needed.

All in all i think they look great. Id hold off on the nutes too. Dont wanna add to many variables on ur first grow. Once u see yellowing… come back with pics and we’ll cross that line. Dont forget to transplant.

These are FFOF GROWN with no nutes thus far.
Started in 10 gallon fabric pots and ended up transplanting into 20 gallon. Considering adding nutes as they are now into flower. Around 2 weeks at this point. Have not done yet as they still look great
