Could I get help on curing?

Newbie - on to my second grow…curing my first grow. White Widow autoflower. I have had in mason jars with % readers and thought this was ok.

when harvested my buds we a little airy as they perhaps did not get enough light - god I can’t recall the term for that…I harvested and dried until stem broke according to all advise - then popped in mason jars - I don’t smoke this - it’s for boyfriend so I have not sampled - I will attach his comments…but in a nutshell after asking for feedback so I can improve he says the stuff he usually gets you can break up in hand…mine was a little moist and wonders is there a drying hack…I figure leave out for a day?

He said not easy to burn in vaporizer but guesses will be good in bowl. Got good high but little sticky. I have just touched the buds in the jar - to my they are springy but not sticky…to him they are stickier than what he is used to.

I have been burping.

Well…not me but…

Any advise?

I am on to my second grow and not growing as much but I am trying to keep her low so she doesn’t get airy buds - apparently thats another reason - ah - foxtailing that is it - the one i harvested foxtailed a little bit

Buds tend to be different from each other at times. Autos are more prone to looser structure and lighter, but the springy feeling is not a bad thing. If those really are at 54%, and those meters are not very accurate at times, then its drier than most people like them. 62% is where most want them.
If its sticky and gets you high then you grew good buds. Cure time will improve smell and taste.

I like mine to read about 62-64% rh which is a little on the moist side for some but where you are at is ok. Id say hes used to commercial or dispensary stuff thats drier

I like to burp for around 3-3 1/2 weeks then seal the jar for several more

Intersting! So I will not throw in the towel lol…I say if he wants drier to leave out for a day…is that a good idea?

I dry mine at 60% RH and ~68F for a week to 10 days, then transfer it to jars for curing for another 2 to 3 weeks.

I have found that removing as much leaf material as possible, even the little bitty ones, helps with the buds having a thicker feel. The more leaf material left on, to me, they feel fluffier. Just my experience with it

It’ll come around just give it time. I’m smoking on the that exact stuff right now

Good possibility the rise stuff was quick cured in a freezer, whereas the good stuff is always a little moist and sticky. Dispensary stuff is too dry and harsh. Its all in the way its cured. If you want drier, flip the lid on the mason jar and leave the lid loose

Sounds like BF is just accustomed to dry weed.

Pretty much. Crispy weed is usually a result of being overdried. If he wants crispier, just leave it exposed for a while. A day may be awful long, but a few hours should do.

I open jars and bags to burp and ive made some self burping containers as well being kind of old school i havent tried grove bags yet but i hear they work great

Same for me.
I did just buy some Grove 1-OZ bags.
Time to test, Jar or Bag and 4 months.

Sounds like a plan, let me know what kind of results you come up with

When do you pull the leafy material off? Before chopping?? Or after hanging? Thank you

Yup grove bags are definitely the fool proof way I would say, my weed gets better on smell and taste the longer they stay in bags, I just ordered more yesterday for my upcoming harvest😀

And just for an FYI or my 2 cents. When I zoomed in on your pics I can see a lot of bigger leaves and some that don’t even have any crystals, those cause airier buds which also Leeds to a much harsher smoke and crappy taste, just like another member said, I would trim the leaves the best I can, the ones that are curled deep into the bud I personally leave, but anything that’s sticking out or has no crystals has just gotta go. Hope this helps, I am no expert in anyway :grinning::v:

Looks great! And nice finger nail polish lol:grinning::v:

Fan leaves can be cut when hanging or later.
Easier to cut wet before hang.
Good long snip tool, advised.
Dried buds look better when trimmed wet, maybe.
Less handling, maybe.

Digital device came in set all reading -5 from actuals, maybe.

What am I looking at? What is all that stuff other than the grove bag??? Lol

I hang the plant whole, then after a week or so, remove the big leaves and most of the leaves from the buds. I also cut remove the branches and “skeleton” at this point. Then in a box for a couple days to sort of sweat out remaining moisture. Then, I manicure the buds, removing remaining leafy material, bug stems, etc.
