So as I have learned that controlling flowering and bud size everyone says use 18/6 12/12 well I have my plants on a 10/14 hours with a DLI of 28. And a PPFD of 756.
Interesting, I’ve dabbled in alternative lighting schedules, but strongly prefer 12/12 and a much higher PPFD personally. I want as much light to my budsites as possible…10/14 will definitely save you a few bux but it won’t yield you the densest, frostiest flowers…at least it never did for me.
I’ve gone to 10/14 the last couple of weeks to try and imitate fall weather for colors, but no luck. Buds still good tho. 12/12 is easier for me because I’m swapping from autos to photos and vice versa all the time lol.
Definitely. I’ve had a couple get some colors, but nothing major. Although I recently grew out a clone that stayed green, while the mother turned all kinds of purple, pink and yellow. Mother was in New England area, I’m on Gulf of Mexico.
The biggest impact on color I’ve observed is temperature…running cooler temps at night especially will bring out color in almost any strain I’ve run. That said, I’m a huge fan of green weed …the best herb I’ve ever had was green, not purps.
I’ve got it set up that i can start getting nighttime temps down in the mid/low 60’s. I’m not going that cool yet. I just wanna get one to show the eff out and look like a New England autumn lol. Just one. But with the day time temps still getting in the upper 90s here, I’m not trying to stress or stall them with 15 and 20° temp chsnges. I grew a Maui Wowie that got some pretty dark purple leaves, but I blasted it with light and it foxtailed and nannered on me, then I bagged too early and got some mold.
