Got the reservoir answer, duh I didn’t read down far enough
Lots of people argue about it being normal or not normal to adjust ph on the other forums out there when they’re done cutting each other down over who’s right. I tried for 3 years of growing hydro to get an answer and never could. Maybe the fertilizer is causing it. I haven’t paid jr peters to test my water and all that. They might be able to help. I’m still buying this ph monitor/adjuster and I’ll get it under control one way or the other.
Gotcha, I had drifting issues in the other direction with my auto pot reservoir when I had air started stones and tried a few wave makers. Helped a little, I just started mixing less in the res.
I added 10 gallons of well water instead of the usual 5 this morning. It dropped the ppm by 200 so I hope that helps. Usually they want the 700 or so ppm that is the 6g/gal jr peters recommends. I pushed them too hard. Im going to stay at 500 or so for the rest of this grow.
I bought these on Amazon and though they are for aquariums, I’m pretty sure everything will work fine. If not…me and whoever is watching will learn something
I got the ph/orp controller the other day. Unfortunately, the dosing relay didn’t come with any chemical resistant tubing so I had to buy 1/16 dia silicon tubing on Amazon. Ive got it in a test setup on the tank and it’s working good. I’m going to learn to use ORP instead of ppm. It seems to be a better method of measuring quality along with nutrient quantity. I’m just starting to learn about it.
Put the ph controller in the setup permanently and it works great. Still testing how much ph up it will need a day. I was running on pure water for 2 days to reset everything. The plants spit out about 150ppm into the pure water. Added 1/2 nutrients to the res and it drove the ppm to 600. I’m watching the orp to see how that matches up to ppm. From what I’ve been reading…ORP is the best way to watch the quality of your water and nutrients. We shall see!
I’m guessing you live in NC @OGIncognito. I think I need to use less nutrients. Now that I have the ph controller, I guess I need to pay Jr Peters to test my water.
Yep, good ole NC. I run the jacks for tap line. I’ve used both but like the results from the tap line. My PH is 7.1-7.2 and a TDS of around 60. I supplement a good bit of cal nitrate and epson
I steered away from the cal nit a couple of years ago when I started jacks for some reason…probably because most of the strains were happy with 10-30-20. Only a few have had a calcium problem. I’m almost out of cal mag. I’ll switch to cal nit on the next one. Their 17-4-17 is about perfect for veg with well water. All I’ve had to add is Epsom.
Best Father’s Day gift I’ve ever bought. $160 and I don’t have to mess with ph every day…or at all.
I’m sure it works just as well as these…and way cheaper.
How’s it going?
Chugging along nicely @StonedCold13 Just flipped to 12/12 even though the Blueberry CBD decided to flower on its own and she’s not an auto. She also has sativa looking leaves which is strange
It’s not really automated but it’s nice to not mess with ph adjusting every other day.
If only there was a way they could trim themselves
Lol, leave them long enough and they will
Odd about the auto wannabe photo how much older is she then the other?
Also odd is that pH sink ya got? Something in that well water? But glad the budget friendly doser is working for ya, I’ll be
More room in here than I remember with earlier grows, that trimming got to you
I week older than the one next to her. Not kidding. She’s a strange one but looks like I’ll get at least 8oz out of her.
I’m sorry I feel bad I forgot his handle but our friend in Michigan who died of cancer taught me well as did @TDubWilly about all of those things. I get pretty aggressive with them. I just tied that shorter plant down 3 days ago @dbrn32
I need to send my water to jr peters and have it tested. They probably can help with that. The 17-4-17 I use in veg stays pretty stable but with the bloom formula ph has to be adjusted constantly.
Speaking of, my wife just showed me some pictures she had taken when we were in vegas with Tim.
