Coincidence or...?

We’re on our 2nd grow, this time with autos: two different strains (420 Fast Buds - Grapefruit on the left & Strawberry Pie to the right). Cute, aren’t they?

Been up about 11 days now (one had a head start). We planted the sprouts off-center, the better to LST them toward the outside. They’re in 7-gallon pots with FF Happy Frog and have had one very light starter feeding. But we noticed something interesting, and we’re curious if anyone has had the same experience, or can offer any insight. Look at the picture again. Especially the orientation of the leaves.

Both plants are aligned similarly with the primary set of leaves facing East/West. I mean, they’re both like little compasses, right? Is this how they would grow in nature, whether alone or with a mate? Did they somehow “synch up” with each other instinctively? And so precisely? Do you think that on some level, they are aware of each other? Do they get benefits by growing this way? Or am I reading too much into this?

I have always believed that plants are much smarter than we give them credit for being, so it may not be too much of a surprise to find this phenomenon is common. But really - kinda strange, huh?

Thanks to all who respond!

Very cute indeed

I just read the other day that plants packed tightly in a tent can sense each other’s (hormones?) Presence and will compete with each other for canopy space. Don’t know how true that is.

Also remember watching some TV special on interconnected redwoods sending each other messages about pests and nutrient availability via interconnected root systems (believe a fungus is responsible for this).

Cool to think about either way.

Grass can tell other blades the lawn mower is coming and react to it and lay down so they don’t get sheered off… or at least that’s what my landscaper tells me when I ask him about funky areas

Yes! I listened to a great podcast - Radiolab - where they did a whole episode on what they dubbed “the wood-wide web” about trees communicating in that way - through an underground fungus. Not so sure about blades of grass lying down, though!

Yeah haven’t scientists proved the aspen groves in CO are the worlds largest living organism because they are all connected? The dang creator sure did a good job. Amazing world and people.

Everything happens for a reason, this could be a message from your spirit guide for you to decipher.

Definitely wouldn’t be talking about harvest where they can hear you!!

Ha! Imagine overhearing your parents discussing how they’re going to chop your head off, dry it out, and then smoke it!
