Hey guys I’m running another post with the status of an indoor auto flower grow on the forum, and had a question for the community.
I’m having a few plants running behind in bud development in early flowering. Switching to 12/12 is a common idea I see to incite flowering. I see a plethora of rhetoric on more light more buds, so can I switch to 12/12 (18/6currently) for a week or so to incite flowering and then go back to 18/6 to increase yeilds once I have sufficiently kicked all my plants into full fruiting?
Short version-can I switch from 18/6 to 12/12 and back to 18/6 without harm?
Yes, you can, but it isn’t ordinary to have to flip autos to 12/12 to induce flowering. Autos will generally flower at some point between 4 and 7 weeks regardless of the light cycle.
I have seen growers go to 12/12 on autos, but only after going 8 to 10 weeks and the plant hasn’t started flowering yet.
You say they’re already flowering, just behind on bud development. If they’re already flowering, flipping light schedule wont do anything to help (I’m not sure it would do anything even if they were still in veg because theyre autoflowers). The flowers just have plump up on their own time now
Just a few late to the punch im thinking in advance if they don’t catch up by next week a contingency plan, I’m hoping there just slower to bloom then there sisters still only had one dose of flowering nutrients not that old day#39
Well they all look like they’re flowering great to me and like I said I really dont think flipping light schedule would have any effect. It may just do more harm than good. But thats just me… Great looking plants though!
I’m pretty new to autos so I just read a thousand articles on them and I remember seeing that going to a 12/12 schedule would actually slow down the development of a autoflower
I would stick with 18/6 light Schedule an finish them up. Buds starting to stack up an plants look happy. Just my thoughts good luck finishing up.
I agree with the above. 12/12 is fine but won’t make that much difference might even take longer than 18/6
I would stick to 18/6 with autos as they are already flowering…
I now run them 24 and 0 for three weeks, then 20 and 4 till week 7 of flower, then 18/6 till finish
It definitely takes longer good point
If your plant is just a bit behind in development I would maybe move the slow roller to the corner and one of the producer to center court. Maybe she’s a bit shy and would perform better in the shadows.
I had a Wedding Cake auto that did not bloom at all until I switched to 12x12 in late flower for her four sisters. I had to top her and prune back a couple of tops but she was a producer. Her roots filled my 5 gallon water spa DWC bucket. Produced copious amount of resin and was one my favorite after harvest.
I had to run her after the others finished but was well worth the wait.
I germinated 20 seeds expecting only 18ish but got all 20 which took a lil more space then I would like so I am allready alternating the plants back and forth between the prime light spots compared to the corners in an attempt to even the canopy. I think I will give that a try though and keep them there for at least a week and a half thanks.
Thanks guys, always done clones just came to autos just for this specific genetic line, this is my first auto grow and they continue to astonish me.
