Carbon scrubber

I recently bought a 4” scrubber, on normal 4” scrubbers flange is 3-3/4”. This one the flange is 3-7/8”. Doe’s anybody have an idea as to what I can do? Thanks

It’s only an 1/8 inch delta. A few layers of duct tape should do the trick. You are not likely to find an 1/8th inch adapter.

You could also seal it with RTV. It may take a couple of layers to get it sealed. RTV is malleable. It won’t withstand bending of the seal, but vibrations probably won’t compromise the seal and it is also easy to remove if needed.

I have noticed by using different kinds of filters They will vary a little. As @MidwestGuy mentioned Run a little tape around the flange of the fan before slideing the filter on. I also go over the top to prevent any leakage. I like to add a couple of set screws. Good luck

Thanks. I guess I didn’t make myself clear. I have 4” dryer hose. The flange is larger then the flange. So I caoget the dryer hose over the flange. And yes I know I will never find a 1/8” adapter. So are you saying just butt it up to the flange and then tape?

I personally use aluminum ducting tape. Once on it stays. Easy removal. It being aluminum it forms to any shapes well.

I meant the flange is bigger then the dryer hose. Thanks

Still no worry. Size is close enough. Tape her together.

The flex will fit very tight , Use some Viasaline or O ring grease . you may need to snip the last ring.

Thanks,That’s what I will do. I got some bulletproof metal tape. I got one more question. I am blowing though my scrubber, I believe I have to reverse the ends is that true? There’s no room in the tent it’s a short one.

@Ronbowe63 Also you can cut a slot in the fan flange With hacksaw work a little with rubber mallet that should get it. Good luck

Kellydans, I didn’t think of that, what a great idea, thanks. Now do you know if I have to switch the flange’s to blow out of the carbon scrubber? I thought I read that you had to do this for it to work right. There is No room in tent, I messed up and got a short tent. Thanks

Yeah @Ronbowe63 , I always advise to buy the tallest tent your space will accommodate. Your fan has a directional flow so hook it up Accordingly. You can pull through the filter or you can push through the filter to control odor.

i cut a 1 inch or longer slit into dryer hose opening (end that will go onto filter), wrap around filter the best you can, then clamp and tape.

If pushing through the filter the prefilter should be placed inside filter. If you do not the dust buildup will degrade the filter very fast.

storm, so I should cut down the pre filter to fit the inside of scrubber. Thanks storm.KCStealthGrower, thanks hag to put two slits to make it work but it’s done. Thanks

The prefilter should fit right inside if it is reversable.

Sew one end shut on the prefilter and use it as a bag filter inside the carbon filter then slip the two together and tape up if you need to. My 6" AC Infinity slip together and few taps are locked together. No tape, screws or clamps needed. To clean the prefilter tap with a rubber mallet and it will come apart then I just throw the unit on top of my tent. Going to do the new 2x4 tent the same way when it gets here on it’s build. This also allows you to keep the near useless flex duct short as possible because it robs CFM.

Didn’t know that about short duck work. Thanks everyone for your help.

i pushed the prefilter into the carbon filter opening until i had just enough to wrap around exterior of flange to clamp then installed hose. The prefilter was basically dbled up this way and was likely why i had to have fan on higher speeds to get desired results. You could probably get away with cutting the prefilter in half and cupping it into the opening to keep it simple
