Can someone identify what is on this plants roots?

Question from a fellow grower:

One of my girls was doing poorly and didn’t look like it would make it the 6 weeks to go.
Please see the roots with all these nodules? What the heck causes this?
The others, all planted at the same time and in the same soil are healthy and looking great.

Rhizobium?

Possibly…

Don’t know what’s up with this link but I happened to see something that looked kind of similar and I remembered your picture, hope it helps

Those are the result of nematodes. I’m no expert but there are beneficial and non beneficial nematodes.

Is the plant is in distress? does it wilt when the soil is moist. It could br nematodes that cause galls on the roots. They show up on the roots of eggplant, tomato, etc. in the desert. They particularly like sand soil.
