Question. Can you use self watering pots like those African Violets are grown in for new seedlings until they become established into healthy plants that can be repotted into outdoor pots?

Seedling uptake most of their water through their leaves during their first 2 weeks of life. Of course you can do it, but it is very unnecessary. Just focus on keeping the RH(relative humidity) up into the 80% to 90% for new seedlings and dont overwater. A solo cup is great for starting out and will do just fine for a seedling.
