Still a lot of white pistils maybe another 2-3 weeks.
The white pistils you are seeing are from her fox-tailing. the original buds are under there somewhere. She’s just stacking buds on top of buds… usually due to too much light or too close of lights.
If you can look at the buds 1/3rd the way down the plant and look at buds with brown pistils, then you can use the chart above to decide for yourself when to harvest.
I’d read 1/3 down the bud but never 1/3 down the plant. Why so far down?
I just saw this was your first post to the community. Welcome Growmie!
Tons to learn. Here. Seems you got a fair handle on it already though. Still, learn something new everyday right?
So trichomes develop to protect the plant from UV rays and predators (basically against extremes). The UV rays are stronger at the top of the cola than further down, and shaded.
The trichomes will be more advanced at the top so to get the best sampling of different levels of development, you look down further… at least this is what I’ve been told and it makes sense so its just what I do now.
Can you use excess light to stress a plant at the end of a grow? Like stem splitting or cold shock or even the 48 hrs of darkness harvest techniques?
If you use excessive light at the end, it can turn the plant into a hermie… if anything, I turn down my light a few days before I turn the lights off for 36-48 hours before harvest. You also don’t want to chance burning the buds with light.
Thanks , yea I got super lucky for my first grow it was a rollercoaster germinated her in a click and grow then transplanted to a 9gallon fabric pot on the balcony then. Veged and flowered in a 2x3 tent but definitely do learn something new everyday!
If you are looking for good info on harvest, drying and curing check out Bill Wards channel on YouTube. He has a 3 part series on the subject. I find Bill Ward to be a most knowledgeable old hand and he is sponsored by ILGM so you get to see a lot of the strains grown out prior to ordering. She looks good, don’t forget to drop a smoke report.
Congratulations! The look beautiful! I can almost smell them from here!
Where did you get that drying rack?
I listen to Rick and Morty while I work with the girls too!
