I live in upstate new york and was wondering when the best time to start placing plants outside
Im in ny to and usually dont put them out till the last week of may but if you have a light you can start them inside and get a jumpstart on the grow happy growing
NY here, too. Our weather is so iffy. Could snow anytime. I would wait til end of May ay least. Like @Newb1 start them now inside
Calling all New Yorker’s I guess!
It’s more than the weather, it’s the length of the days. Once you get down to 14 hours or so they want to go into flower. Around May 25th we hit 15 hours, so yeah I’ll be keeping an eye on the weather that last week.
4/20 start em, you will have almost 14 hrs of light. Good luck!
This is my first outdoor grow and im currently in the middle of my first ever grow indoors right now. Im planning on starting sprouts for outdoors the first week of May to kick out of the house Memorial day weekend.
@CurrDogg420 that looks great! I can’t wait until I have don’t have to keep things so concealed to keep my wife happy once they finally come up with these new regs for our state.
They sent helicopters last year. Not kidding.
Now Ive got a license to grow it, just bought $500 in fencing today, couple of trail cameras, it’s not visible to the public, and I’ll be planting some basil for odor control.
I don’t need that happening haha.
High,
I sprout in April and they are ready to go outside in the ground near May 26. Got luck last year and had them in mid May.
Happy growin,
Ger
Welcome , pay attention to your local farmers when they set out their seedlings you’re good to go. Mid may no more frost In my area.
Great pointer
We have a thing here in N AZ, I was told by an old time farmer. When the mesquite trees leaf out, the danger of frost is past. My last ten years of gardening its never steered me wrong. In fact the times I tried to cheat and get an early start, ignoring his advice I was sorry.
Here we keep things susceptible to frost inside until Mother’s Day.
Another One in NY I start them inside then move them outside end of May
Hi Kellydans,
I got ahead of myself, last night it got below freezing, but my girls were zipped up in their tent, with a heavy tarp over the top, a small light ran all night. They were a little upset this morning but by afternoon they had bounced back. This is a pic from a few days ago. Still won’t be able to put them out full time til probably mid may.
Yeah plants look good. mid may has always been my outside target date. Cannabis is tougher than you think. Frost will kill young plants but I’ve have left them late October an catch a early frost with no problem. Looks like the guard dog is doing it’s job.
High,
I wait till mid to later May last year was exceptional I. i was able to get them in the ground early May. Usually around May 26 is best for me
Happy Growin
Ger
