California lightworks solarextreme 1000w or Hlg 600r?

I was looking for a new toy today and narrowed it down to these two light’s. I have done pretty extensive research on both and can not pick one and unfortunately can not afford both. It would be nice to hear feedback from other growers who have experience with these two types of light.

Maybe @dbrn32 can assist you with your question.

The solar extreme is budget offering from their flagship solar system lights. I would go with the hlg light. Fwiw, with coupon code you can get into hlg-650r for roughly $100 more than those are listed.

Thank you for the feedback I went with the Hlg 600r. Would 2 of theses work in a 5x10?

Ppfd average there is like 650 umols/s. I usually shoot for closer to 800, but 650 isn’t bad.

Thank you.

I’m pretty new to growing, but I’ve upgraded with HLG three times so far. Started with a DIY kit with a couple 132’s, then went to 288’s, and the last was the 650 Rspec. I don’t have any other brand to compare it to other than blurples, but I’ve got nothing but good to say about any of the HLG lights I’ve purchased.

I wanted to buy the 650, unfortunately I have a budget. I plan on getting a second 600 within the month and if I utilize those two lights properly I will end up with 2 650s. Big goals over here with a small budget!

Irrelevant on this topic but I thought I should share this as a budget light. I recently harvested 5 photos under a viparspectra tc1350 in a 48x48x80 grow tent. I also ran a 600w Vivosun hps cooling reflector grow light in a 48x48x80 grow tent to compare. The results with the viparspectra tc1350 were unbelievable and beyond my expectations. It put the Hid light to shames, the grow time was almost a month faster and the yeild was probably around a 1/4 gram of wet herb, dry is still to be determined. Viparspectra tc1350 will always hold a spot in my arsenal!
