I have not done it but I’ve read about it before (despite what the guy says in the video Lol)
From what I’ve read it does work but it is very labor intensive. There is a member on here that has done it before I can’t remember who it was.

I have tried but all I can say is if you do try timing better be perfect and plants better be healthy so not a trick I would recommend for new growers done at wrong time it drops yield stresses plants and can lead to early maturation or hermi
@Jmesser80 that would be me during my last grow but also didn’t share details since it is risky

I think I saw someone else’s grow journal where they did it. I could be mistaken though I browse through a lot of posts. Definitely wouldn’t be something I would try I’ll stick to the easier less labor intensive methods.

Thanks @Donaldj, this is a video I’ve watched a few times and I’ve wondered if it works. Guess I’ll try with a b.s. clone. Maybe I don’t know to tell the truth I’m kinda scared to try.

I loved that video!! I’m new but I’m going to try that on one of my plants after I harvest one, so I’ll know what I’m doing. I have fimmed, so I know what to do, but have to get better at it. Bud swelling, “that’s great!” Definitely gonna try :grin:

If you time it wrong or plants are stressed by a hidden deficiency it could bite you in the arse

Thanks, but I’m not going to try it, too soon for me. I didn’t even get fimming right yet. Would be great if it works though!

I know right! I’m too new to fimm or top cause I’ve tried it twice and have a lot of new growth but the leaves haves pinches out at ends, I’ll take pic in few days when I take girls out and adjust lights. They are lookin mighty fine, otherwise. Thanks for all your help and advice, I really appreciate this site and everyone at ILGM, this is just amazing for me. It’s a lot of information at first but it’s coming together for me now, especially because of everyone’s help and advice! I’m a happy grower :grimacing::laughing::seedling::herb:

@bonnie1 Have you seen this before?

I have not tried this yet but I am going to attempt to Fimm first and if that fails I can still top because the cut line for topping is below the fimm cut line. My theory is that 4 tops is better than 2 and most people top twice so if fimm is successful and I fimm those 4 then I will end up with 16 tops. Looks good on paper. Dont be afraid to try new things because this is how we learn.

I have seen this and used it and a video to fimm. That’s my understanding also, more growth with fimming. My plants have new growth where it shows on pic but two big leaves have pinches out but they’re growing great! I’ll try to send pic of the two I tried to fimm. Someone said I did it too soon, so I’m waiting for a bigger sprout in center growing up. Think I need to watch video again, lol

I have the way to do that in one of my journals it’s a long process and not worth my time it works but you can grow massive without doing it

I typically see deformed leafs where I fim. This is because of the cut you make on that growth. You are essential leaving a portion of the leaf from that site. Usually those leafs will remain healthy they just look a little odd.

Then I must’ve done it right, thanks for telling me that. I’m going to try to get a good pic today or soon, have guy fixing my oven right now and the day is slipping by. Want to get big grow today at local hydro store, should’ve ordered from amazon would’ve been delivered with light tomorrow, oh well. Thanks for replying, really didn’t know if I did that right! :blush:
