I have some experience being around older folks with dementia. If this has been a slow progression you should get a second opinion. There are some medications that will help slow down the progression. The sooner the better. Don’t hesitate on this, please. When my mom started showing signs doctor’s started her on meds and it really helped
i think it has been slow. i am not sure 100. his confusion is not right. how did you get your mother to get help? did she know she was confused? what kind of doctor helped her? i dont want to upset him by telling him we need to go somewhere else. my daughter said she saw him exhibiting small stroke signs again and his doctor said it was nothing. just stay on plavix and aspirin. he is 70 yrs old
Well my grandmother had alzheimers and it got progressively worse. So when mom started showing symptoms we immediately noticed. Please understand that I have no way of knowing about your husband, I just wanted to advocate for you to get a second opinion. My wife’s stepfather had dementia and it was diagnosed early so they had started medication early, it did help, but seemed to progress faster than alzheimers.
I certainly agree with @Bulldognuts. Get a second opinion. I would tell you to get another doctor, but that is a complicated decision. I worked with doctors for 8 years, and some were great. But some get in this “maintenance mode” and seem bothered when their expertise is called into question. All I will say is this- doctors work for you. If you are not happy with the job they are doing find another one. As far as who to take him to- either your primary doctor or a neurologist could assess him. If you feel like something is wrong dont give up. Keep stating your case until somebody listens. It really sucks that people have to advocate for their loved ones like they do. If you have a good doctor, especially your primary, you should be good. He/she is your “quarterback” and can refer you to any specialist. Jeez, if you wanna know more I can tell you. I am writing another book. Sometimes my blueberry gets ahold of me and I am kind of on auto pilot. Have a great weekend T- I am always around if you need an ear to fill. Keep fighting for your hubby. Peace…
Agree whole heartedly Trich.
Don’t give up fighting for your hubs, sounds like he needs you in his corner now, more than ever!
I also agree that Dr’s work for you, if you’re not happy with the service they provide, find another, one who has your husbands and your best interests at heart.
We are with you @pptrsha1 and will support you all the way,

Update for Miley
so happy to hear she is doing a bit better. even when she doesnt need you mulitiple times per night any more you will still be awake. isnt that they way of it when you have kids? happy holidays to all of you.
I don’t know if you have considered micro-dosing cannabis to help her sleep.
I make canna caps for my girlfriend who can’t sleep because of bad Arthritis and now she sleeps like a baby.
I started to make them with some Super Critical Bud CBD and it works wonder.
So I don’t know if it would be a good option for your sweetheart…?
Last year Miley had a surgery to get a baclophin pump put in to help with muscle tone and spasticity. It relaxed her body so much that she slept through the night almost immediately for a short time. It was a bit concerning but was nice to get some solid sleep. And yes, I woke up several times wondering if I should check on her.
Miley is a big contributing factor as to why I started growing. We treated her with brownies for a short time. We didn’t notice a difference so stopped giving it to her. We shared that information with her doctors and they all seems to accepting of it but wouldn’t prescribe or consider a marijuana card.
That was all before I learned what I was doing. Maybe now might be a good time to try again.
A very simple way to make some canna caps is just to finely grind your bud and decarb it. Then encase in pill casings and take as usual.
Works the same as an edible and provides relief for a few hours.
If you do it with canna oil, it’s more potent, so may be a bit more difficult to dose for Miley…
And be careful which casing you use if you use canna oil… the vegan option for the pill casing is the one you need. The other one will melt when in contact with the oil.
If you are interested, I can find the exact ones I use. I get them off of Amazon…
I pack about 0.3 grams per pill and my gf takes 2 about an hour before bedtime.
And now she can sleep uninterrupted for at least 6 to 8 hours…
I made a batch of tincture that I’m using to infuse gummy bears. They taste great so getting her to take them would be easy. My only concern would be the drug interaction with baclophin that her pump keeps on a regular schedule.
I wouldn’t dream to recommend anything about that. But her doctors should know…
I’m only guessing that it does not interfere otherwise her doctors would have said something when you were giving her brownies…
That was before she was taking baclophin. I’m not terribly concerned with the drug interaction. We have some new doctors we’re dealing with out of New Hampshire, which is not a marijuana friendly state. I’ll have the conversation during our next visit to see how receptive they are.
My thoughts and good vibes are with you my friend.
I don’t know if you are aware of the body of work of this man here : Raphael Mechoulam
Might be worth your while to look him up. He’s one or THE leading authority on medicinal cannabis and he did all kinds of testing and research…
I am glad Miley is a little better. If I can be of any help please let me know. I am going to look up that medication she’s on to see what I can find. Please take care of her and your family. Your in my thoughts and will continue to be in my prayers. Peace…
Thanks for the info.
It’s hard to find solid answers when it comes to treating a TBI with cannibus. Seems there is some promise on the horizon but all are in clinical trials.
