I‘ve already done it. So I know which is better. Why waste good money each month on running with a subpar light? I can upload photos to show what it was before the HLG lights. It’s not pretty. Luckily for me I don’t smoke 1 ounce per month otherwise I’d given up long time ago.

But go on ahead and see what I mean. Good luck…most of my crops was less than 1 ounce till two crops ago where I got my highest yield of 3.32 z’s dried and cured. And yes, I had to add a 2nd light of the same one to get that much. I then switched to the HLG’s and managed to get 8 z’s dried and cured.

The last two crops I managed to get really dense nugs. Here is one of them.

This was off my GSC Beast which was about halfway through flowering when I changed lights.

I’ll agree on the better lighting. After you figure out the best nutrient schedule, the lighting is the weakest link, and you really can grow monsters in there with great lighting, but you won’t get it from lacking in lighting.
If this is an experiment you can always run whatever lighting you purchased and grow with it. If you continue to grow, I recommend the DIY lighting, you get more for your dollar, and better lighting. HLG lighting is always a good “grow out of the box” package. @PremiumBudzBlondie
