It’s been three weeks since the four germinated seeds were planted. I just transplanted the bigger girls and was wondering if I should transplant the smaller ones as I’m unsure if root development has direct correlation with plants size.
@JohnDoe97, My understanding is that when the leaves pass the sides of the solo cup, time to transplant. Seems to work for me. I hope this helps
Unfortunately it doesn’t. I’ve had small plants with large root systems and big plants with small root systems. I start them in clear solo cups so I can monitor root development.
This plant was small but the cup was filled with roots.
This plant got big but root development was slow
Nesting a clear cup inside of an opaque one is brilliant. I don’t know why I’ve never seen that before.
There’s quite a few here that do this. It was here that I learned of it. Comes in real handy to keep an eye on how a particular plant puts down roots.
Great freaking idea. I will definitely be doing this moving forward.
I think it was @Familyman and I adopted the idea as my standard practice.
