Beginner Grow Prep Vol. 2

First and foremost, thank you all for the support. Now, I tried to plant 3 plants all on my own and took it into my hands and it didn’t turn out in my favor. So, I’m going for round 2 and I’m going to all of you for guidance. I will link my equipment and y’all can guide me in the direction for a successful grow.

Also have ph up and down stuff and a ph meter.

Now, I ask you all. What kind of soil should I use? I’m sure there’s a mixture y’all recommend, but just the one that is less likely to mess up.

What else am I missing?

These are burple lights that are not very effective. I would suggest getting lighting that is built with Samsung LM301 series diodes (HLG, Gravita, Chilled, or even some of the newer Spider Farmer models.)

Many of us started with these burple lights and later regretted buying them.

You really need something bigger that can accommodate plants, lighting, ventilation, etc. Four feet is a very short tent.

Welcome to the community ! foxfarm ocean forest or Happy Frog would be a good choice for soil. I also recommend the fabric pots. As mentioned the lights is your most important piece of equipment for indoor grow.

I don’t want to be redundant… that’s the advice I’d follow from 2 good growers.

I let google and amazon con me into those lights lol. What are some good lights that you would recommend? Given that I don’t want to exactly break the bank, but I don’t mind spending some money.

Also, would you say the 3x3x6 would be good? Or would you rather stay in the current tent?

Would you recommend filling the whole pot with foxfarm ocean forest (or happy frog) or would you say I need to add other things to it like perlite? Complete newbie, I’m just asking.

Also, further into the soil situation, would you recommend nutrients into my grow? If so, when, what, and how much?

What lights would you recommend? If there is one you the kind person above you who commented both agree on then I’ll probably get it.

Thank you !

@grownewbie1 If you choose to go with ocean Forest I add about 3 quarts perlite per bag. Ocean Forest will carry your plants up close to flowering stage without adding any nutes . Happy Frog a little less hot soil. HLG lights would be a great choice. Depending on the size space you go with which ligit to use.

That is a good price on the XL model.

“dude” used to be a valid discount code for HLG that gave 10% off. I’m not sure if it is still valid or not.

For a 2,5x2,5 you could probably get by with a HLG 135

I squeezed an HLG 300L in my 27"x27"… it’s tight.

Is there in lights in particular that you would recommend?

@grownewbie1 If you choose to go with the 3 x 3 space. The HLG 260 v2 rspec would be a great choice.
An the 2.5 x 2.5 space as @dirtydave mentioned the HLG 135 model flowering footprint is 2x2 but if it fits your budget it should do a fine job. I think you’ll be happier with the 3 x 3 space.

I have decided that I will get this light right here . The price doesn’t seem bad and y’all say it’s a good light.

Also, I think I will do the ocean forest with perlite, but last time I started them straight in the pot I planned to have them in. Is this a bad idea?

One more thing, will I need to add nutrients later on ?

You will be very happy with your light. Yes , you will need nutes later on. HLG has several good videos on assembly of light. very simple

With regular water practices Ocean Forest should have enough nutes to last around 5 weeks before feeding. I would add CalMag to your regimen.

Just wanted to say, 2 weeks later and this code still worked. Saved me $30 on my light. Thanks!
