Hey all thanks for your input and advice given for my harvest! I’m back at popping another seed! This time I will start her out in a small cup and not starting in my 5 gal pot. I would like to transplant this time around instead. Any tips on the fragility of a seedling how I should handle her would be great!
Another question of mine: can I grow a cannabis plant in a 1 gal pot instead of a 5 gal pot? I have a 2x2x4 tent, with 4 more seeds. I can easily fit two plants using a smaller pot but I do understand the plants will be smaller. This is just something new I want to learn for this grow. Or whether it’s a good idea. I plan to veg two of them for about a week or so. Definitely no more than two weeks to veg both plants. I am quite aware of yield! This is an experiment for me to see what I can grow in a minimum of 2.5-3 months!
You could grow it in a coffe cup if you really wanted to. Small roots = small plant.
There was a contest on here to grow in a solo cup. It was rather impressive.
Also with smaller pots youll most likely need to water more often.
Congrats on the new start Grow Bro, starting in solo cups is my preferred method and use a clear cup for this with a red cup on the outside. I leave them in the cup for 12-14 days for autos and cut the 4 slices down the sides to remove the seedling. 1 gallon pots will get the job done in a small space. I like to fill a fabric pot around the solo cup I have the seed germing/growing in then just drop the seedling and medium in the hole
I have some in 5gal and some in 3 gallon. Don’t really have a preference of one over the other.
5s definitely suck when/if you have to move them after watering. They get heavy but then again in old and broken😁
It is strange how things add up. The six clones pictured weighed 11.4 ounces. At the same time I grew 2 clones in my 3x3 in 5 gallon pots. They ended up weighing 11.8… All in coco, Jack’s with some Advanced Nutrients.
Do you usually remove a lot of the popcorn nug growth before flipping to flower? I had a lot of popcorn nugs. Not a bad thing honestly but would love next time for more of the energy to be the main focus in the colas and not the small nugs under the canopy. I did use training methods as well and light cutting and defoliation.
Thanks for that info @Graysin i always thought that theyd get root bound eventually then slow down growing unless you started root pruning. But i guess thats kind of what the fabric pot does for you. If you ever transplant/cull that one can you post a pic of the root ball? Id be interested to see what it looks like. And shes not ugly she perfect in her imperfections.
She should be getting an upgrade in her digs on Wednesday morning, along with a major haircut and cleanup of all the dead stuff that isn’t getting good light. I’ve had this plant in some form of another since I started growing. This is the 3rd generation of clone, and she’s going to be the designated “mother” until her new clones root up.
I’ll snap some pics of the roots when I get her unearthed if I remember, I’ll grab some root shots of the solo cup giants I’ve got too.
