Auto growers : I challenge you to start growing photoperiod strains!

I would love to see your journal. I keep track, but I would sure like to see some other versions.

I seem to get the same results. I’ve been thinking there must be a better starting soil. I don’t transplant. Start them in Ocean Forest. I’m wondering what soil mix to set the seed in when I start it. Like maybe a finger sized pocket of peat moss or something.
I found that using a paper towel after a day in water pops best. I haven’t had failures since I started that. Once they go to soil, the game changes.

I soak a half day then into wet paper towel, baggie method, a few times direct sow but often transplant again as I do with my veggie garden about 50 to 75 times a year without fail. Well, better than 95% anyway.
At least one brand of starting soil is just peat moss and perlite.

I use happy frog potting soil with extra perlite to start them off then half and half ff ocean’s mixed with happy frog organic 20% extra perlite and ED for nutes

I was in this thread way way back and today is the day I’m giving my first photo - Space Queen “Sally Ride”, which I received as a clone so long ago now I forget when - the chop.

She was a very difficult grow. She arrived with a boatload of thrips, was weak and spindly. I accidentally neglected her nearly to death at one point when my attention was taken off plant care and put on human care. I somehow managed to save her wilted, droopy behind though she ended up losing all foliage below the new growth that she had after I stared trying to resurrect her. Looks as if I lollipopped her, but she actually did it to herself.

She was a great learning experience given all the problems she had. She’s my tallest plant at a whopping 32 inches (don’t judge!) but honestly I’m surprised I had anything to show at all. The other clone I had didn’t survive unfortunately, but again, valuable lessons learned.

Next grow: One photo - Critical Mass - and one auto - Bruce Banner - in coco with autopots. I’m also replacing my ventilation system to hopefully make things more automatic and easier on both me and them.

I can’t imagine the problems but right now, she looks delicious awesome job!

Thanks! I feel as if she threw nearly every problem in the book at me, and I almost gave up on her more than once, but I figured she was there to teach me about lots of things I hadn’t encountered yet.

Hopefully, things will go more smoothly next time.

I have 2 autos going right now but I do plan to try a photo after them. I dream of one of those 15 ounce harvest I read about. It would make me very popular with some of my friends. Id be like the wizard spreading my magic!

Its a too each his/her own ,like everything else I guess…A whatever floats yur boat...I like autos for size and speed a risk verses reward type of deal. Last season I grew one Romulan photo and though I did get more weight..I wasn't quite convinced because of the length of time it took and size...Since I'm outdoors and even though I'm in a legal state ..I didn't want to advertise my grow..Now mind you on the quality issue I have gotten better and use different nutes and bacterias ( Tribus& Fishit) added to my regular nuts that really boosted my flavor and trichs…So who knows? Maybe since I still have some photo Romulans I ll try again…I do think it is possible that i may get tighter nugs and better smell/flavor time will tell… But with my Autos I can get in two crops and have (like this year) 10 different strains…Unless you have a forest in your backyard its hard to grow that many photos…as far a yield My first batch got me a few pounds of ILGM blueberry…way more then I need. I dont hate on either I just think its a matter of choice and convenience…after all ITS ALL WEED! smoke eat drink…Be happy in thy grow…

I’m fairly new here, grow in Alaska.
I’m on the interior auto train this winter.
Had a few photo periods last year that were short 5-6 weeks of flower.
Might try indoor starters in a tent and get them outside,
but will need a strain that turns over quicker than most and also does decent in cooler temps.
Any ideas?

My Purple Lemonade is almost too fast. She started flower at week three.
My Think different is going on week 4 and still no signs of flower.
I prefer when autos get to week five or six before going into flower. I think that when they flower too early they lose yield.

I have both going stoll all new but learning as we go. They are all such a beautiful flower.

Both autos banana kush, one is p4p superb soil, the other straight coco.

We think 2 ozs from soil and 4.5 ozs from coco, just wild guesses.
