Auto-flower Growers please!

Hi there everyone!

I am on day 34 of my autoflower and i am quite happy with the way she looks although i just need to know if she is a good size for day 34 as this is my first time growing and i know it was important to get her as big as possible in veg and she is currently now in pre-flower!

Very exciting for me and i cant wait for the end result!

Thanks guys!

She looks really healthy to me. How close do you have the lights? She really hasn’t stretched too much vertically. Sometimes it happens when the light is too close.

she could be slightly shorter as i have been doing LST on her from early on. Could also be the light? I have a 250 watt CFL bulb so i thought i was suppose to keep the CFL pretty close as possible… do i need the 250 watt CFL further away? It’s about 4 or 5 inches from the canopy…

She also just started stretching about 3 days ago and can now see some good daily growth.

Do you think shes too small?

Here is her exactly 7 days ago.

Wow nice LST work on her  let me tag @dbrn32 he is the light specialist around here. He’ll be able to tell you how close you can run those CFL’s and if they should be enough to carry you through flowering

Is that a 250 watt equivalent cfl or a true 250 watt cfl? What is the cct on the bulb?

HI there,

It is a true 250 watt CFL bulb. Was quite pricy actually. It is 6500 K at the moment as i still need to buy the 2700K.
I also live in South Africa (we are going into winter) and still have a lot of nice sunny days. So during a nice day i will put the plant outside in the sun for the day and then at night i will put it back under the CFL bulb. It gets about 20 hours of light a day.

I also have a 60(true watt) full spectrum LED that i am going to add with the cfl now for flowering. What you you think?

Your more than welcome

That is probably a little closer than you need to be on bulb that big. I would back it off a few inches at least.

It’s hard to flower well with cfl’s, so try to keep plant opened up and canopy level even if you can.

okay great. Also more questions regarding opening up the canopy…

1: Is defoliation on autos to open the canopy for light generally a bad idea ? As you dont want to stress the plant out? I am a bit worried about that if i do some…
If it is okay to defoliate, when would be a good time to do so?

2: what other methods can i use to open the canopy as my plant is obviously been LST trained into quite a thick bush?

I would just keep pulling branches out a little as needed. Then watch how how things progress.

Are you planning to split the stems? I go back and forth on it. My girls are 57 days old today. Your girls look great! I’m growing WWA.

Looks a little small but nothing out of the ordinary. Looks Very healthy. Heres a pic of my autos the day they went into preflower

about the same size

I don’t think so as at about day 82 now and just about done with the flush. They are doing just awesome I think not bad for first grow. Will update after the harvest with a total

After all said and done ended up with 3oz. from the white widow and 1.5oz. from the caramel kush don’t think to bad for the first grow. Thanks to all for responding
