If I switch from a regular samsung diode type of light which pretty much just puts out a white light, at the start of the flower cycle, to something with a purple light like this, will that make a big difference in the quality of flower?
In a word, no. The blurples don’t help with anything.
White light is a fuller spectrum then the purple. Stay samsung but switch to an lm301B or H diode.
Purple (burples) are terrible lights for growing. Please don’t buy a Glixer LED. As @Docnraq offered, go with a light built with Samsung LM301 series diodes and choose an Rspec, which will provide sufficient red spectrum for flowering. It will appear as a white light, but does a fabulous job of flowering cannabis.
Don’t believe the reviews for these (Glixer) type lights. They pay buyers to inflate the reviews.
Usually lights with white Samsung diodes use a couple different temperatures. 3000 and 5000 are the ones I see. The next step is to add 660 red. The better lights like HLG use a mix of color / kelvin diodes to obtain an average of around 3500
