I agree @PhillyRock, @Monkman is lining things out clearly and simply. I’m going to soil grow this group. I’m tempted to do both hydro and soil, but I heed the advice of my mentors
if you are using soil, remember that it is important to keep the little critters going (bacteria and another kind that i can’t think of now). i used “old” mother’s earth potting soil, it was over a year and a half old, and it really messed up my seedlings. i lost 12 seeds due to them not taking off so well. get some great white mychorazae and use that every time u transplant
You wanna talk about wasted money ? LOL
You’re not alone bro.
Posted this a little while ago.
@PhillyRock that’s a great idea. I do have space, so I’ll research and build out hydro room while I learn how to raise children in the dirt.
Yep! Let it grow IS now bouncing around and has replaced Aladdin song @JB00 planted a few days ago. Thanks?
oops, Great White mycorrhizae
@Youngster Yeah yeah dude! I think I found that link from your grow log! I have the list ready to roll if that’s what I decide!
If you go with FF Ocean Floor you’re good on Nutes for 5-8 weeks. You’ll not have to do
ANYTHING other than pH’ed water and keep an eyeball on temps. Might want to mix in
25-30% Perlite for aeration. It’s truly EZ mode.
@PhillyRock That’s helpful to hear that the starting is the hard part. And the lighting! I’m on my 3rd light now. First 2 weren’t strong enough
I wasted money on 6 lights total. I’m currently using the last two I bought but having 4 in
mothballs is a gut punch.
if that is the case, then do not do anything about your lighting without talking to @dbrn32. he will be able to tell you how well your lights that you have now will do for you, but i suspect you will need more lighting to get good flowering.
I just purchased a decent light tonight I have something now I can push my plants pretty hard in my little 4x4… it is an investment. I didn’t buy that many lights I just purchased mid grade lights that had decent numbers but didn’t have balanced par for what I want to accomplish… i have 3 lights currently so ill buy another tent and use one for propagation one for veg and one for bloom. When u get lemons make lemonade right…
@monkman Mycorrhizae I have in spades. I soil and work in it for a living restoring heritage trees.
I will probably get some tried and true brand for the babies though. They are already so different than anything I’ve grown before. What mycorrhizae do you recommend?
they should put up a banner on the forums home page " do not buy lights w/o talking to someone who knows what they are doing. and @dbrn32 is about as good as anyone i know, he can make sense of using some of the lesser quality lights, can help you with building your own QB from parts, has the numbers down for space covering… basically he is just great!
@Youngster we are totally tracking there. Go big or go home. I’ll have at least 3 tents going. Right now I have 2 4x4x6 tents. I’ve been following your lighting journey, and will get advice before I buy any more lights. Deciding which grow method to do needed to happen tonight though.
kk i’m done for the night, am out of likes lol it has been great visiting with you folks and always fun to meet new growers! tc all and have a great night.
@monkman I’d like to build my own boards, but getting supplies is hard in my area right now. I’m grateful for mail order delivery!! And yes, yes a big ‘ol banner is a winning idea!
Got it- thanks!
What I’ve learned so far…is lights are super important… systems rdwc or soil… soil is better for taste and terpenes… hydro is about size and yield… but without good lighting you won’t get the best of either medium. Invest in your light and invest in quality seeds…
I purchased a used setup 2x2 and viparspectra 600 for 150$… I purchased used nutes… another 60 bucks… I purchased a decent light off Amazon 350$… tent 4x4 175$ new nutes 100$ inline fan 175$ new light 1k$ 8 bucket dwc system 260$ 4 bucket dwc 114$ new air pump 89$ meters 40$ clone kits hydroton lines… seeds… trays… humidifer… dehumidifier. 300$ … inline water chiller… the inline water chiller is another 800$
And this is my first grow… I didn’t need half the stuff I purchased if I planned correctly… take your time rrsearch plan ask questions… save your money… this is addictive… btw I only had to upgrade light because I purchased a co2 setup and realized I need better lights to utilize the co2… then I realized with better lights Temps get higher and can cause root rot… so there u need a chiller… and guess what you can’t use a chiller if you have dwc you need a rdwc system… lmao see piss poor planing cost u a lot of money lol
Don’t be youngster ask questions…
