Anyone ever seen a bud like This?

@Newt, @SilvaBack203, @Deez, @Graysin, @AfgVet, @AEAgain, @VirginiaGrowBoy, @Sydious, @TheVirginian

I’ve grown on and off for 48 years and have never seen this. It is different and weird, but beautiful it it’s own way.

ILGM Purple Haze, normal germination, 3 gal. cloth pot, COM Bar Harbor soil, Jack’s A & B w/ epsom salt, 4x4 tent in basement, 800 measured watts LED Sonofarm s4000 x 2, 11 hours on 13 off, 7th week of flower.

According to what I found it’s an example of polyploidism. hightimes(dot)com/grow/common-weed-mutations/6/?amp=1
The picture on this page of the article looks a lot like your bud.

That is strangely Awesome :sunglasses:. :blush::v:

I’ve had it before, actually 2 separate strains at once. As rare as that is. I chopped one of them, and let the other go. Watch out for hermies. tons of leaf matter, and they take a ridiculous amount of energy from the rest of the plant.

My thought exactly.

@Flipdawg08 has polyploids almost somewhat often. They’re nuts.

Sort of. I’ve flowered 2 of them and they are a lot of work, but they smoke okay. I bought 5 Orange Barb seeds from Seedsman and have grown 2 of them and both were polyploids. I expect the 3 remaining seeds are polyploids as well. Foliage grows from everywhere on a polyploid, so you have to stay on top of trimming or the foliage will be so dense that the plant will choke itself.

Maybe I will grow one this year and do some experimenting and make a journal.

Odd for sure. Good info from everyone.
My first thought was I would not want to trim that bud. Buds with a lot of sugar leaves is a PIA

Very :heart_eyes: and unique.

@beardless I thought the same thing. Trimming is going to be a PITA. I’m wondering if I could press it, dry it and preserve it under glass.

I had one in my last Blue Dream grow. I researched it and think it was called a “duopiliod”… don’t quote me on that. It was only on a single branch and everything on that branch “doubled”. Like the branch was a conjoined twin and growing 2 of everything at the same spot…i thought it was fun so let her do her thing. I’ll see if i still have a picture.

Looks like a polyploidism. You can grow them to finish but most will toss them as they can be a pain in the arse. Some say production is better, others say the opposite :woman_shrugging:

Found it… this is the only picture i could find when it was still early in flowering

You can’t see the branch in that picture but even the branch itself was doubled.
