Mornin everyone. Well, I finally started my OG Kush Auto. 3 of 3 germinated from just under a day to just over a day. I’m friggin ecstatic man. This morning the first one was around a 1/4" so I put 'er in FF OF.
Soil is 6.63 and right around 69-71 degrees.
Air temp keeps around 70-74
Humidity is between 43 and 49
According to the research I did, this is good for OG Kush. BUT… that doesn’t mean it is. There is so much sh*t info out there anymore. That’s why I’m asking you guys. I trust you guys 1000%. So by all means, suggest away.
As soon as I figure out why my computer is giving me fits, I’ll try posting a couple pics.
I do have a few questions in the mean time. Spider recommends 24"-30" above for germination. I have it at 26". They don’t say though, how much light. Where should I have my dimmer? I’m planning on 18hrs a day for the whole time. or 24 if it won’t bother it.
Next… I know I have a while yet before I add nutes. But I want to stay ahead. I got the Jack’s 321. It has directions on them, but it might as well be in Chinese. Haha, I have absolutely no idea what those numbers mean.
It says on the Epsom "Mixing for 25 ppm Mg and 33 ppm S. And the same on the other 2, just different PPM’s. Which you guys know that have it of course. But what mixture am I using? I don’t quite follow the 2 different mixes. I was gonna mix up a litre of each to start with only 3 plants.
Last(for now)… Do I check soil Ph daily, every other? Sorry, I did read it somewhere, but I can’t find it. Plus I’ve been burnin’ some Axe Berry all morning. That’s some good stuff. Anyone else here have it? Anyway, I saw somewhere it should be closer to 6 than 7. Is this right?
Congrats! I am using a spider farmer sf2000 and for seedlings I have it at 24” at 40% intensity….now that they’re all up and breathing I cranked it up to 60% and they seem to be loving life
Glad you’re so excited to get started! You might want to raise the relative humidity up for them, at least for the first week or so above ground. Until they establish some roots, the only way they can get moisture is to absorb it through the leaves. The humidity level you say you’re at will be appropriate for them later on, but for now you should try to get it up higher, like to at least 65 to 70%, but personally I keep them at 80% for the first few days.
Also, a small fan giving them a very slight breeze will help strengthen up their stems.
That makes sense @Cap_Ron. I just turned it up. That leads to another question. I see people spaying other plants with spray bottles. Is this what they are doing instead of being able to control the humidity? Would this work for weed too? I used to keep my ‘mater leaves wet when it was hot out, and to aid in water intake. I know you have to be careful cause of root or stem rot, but for the first few days would it help? It’s no big deal for me to turn up the humidity, I’m just curious. This is for sure different than puttin’ 6 acres of corn in, haha. I’d make a couple passes with the Oliver and the cultivators up till about 2.5’ high… then done, that was it. Then it’s off to cut and ted hay… I miss it but my body don’t.
I know a lot of people spray their plants and use different foliar feeding products, but I’m not one of them. I use a humidifier and an Inkbird humidity controller to keep it around 75 or 80% through the seedling stage. Once they start really growing in veg, I ditch the humidifier and try to keep it between 50 and 60 give or take. Mid flower I start using the big dehumidifier and I try to keep between 45 and 50%.
Og kush is a great strain. Grew two on my first grow and really liked the smoke . Jack’s is 3.6, 2.4,1.2 per gallon of water. I always would ph around 6.7. As for checking ph that will be difficult until you water till runoff which will be a few weeks. You can do a slurry test but I never found it necessary. I usually checked ph every watering when I started to check ppm’s to see when it was feeding time. Good luck with the grow.
I’m not sure I know what you mean @Capt.Cola. 3.6? ppm or Grams? and which one? Sorry, I don’t know what that means, It’s my first time at single plant care, And I’m in a haze today, need to toke.
For Jacks 321, Part A is 3.6 grams throughly mixed, add 1.2 grams of epsom salt throughly mixed. Then 2.4 grams of part B. All must be mixed and completely dissolved in this order. You’re shooting for a 1000 PPMs in the veg state and this quantity of jacks will equal that. PH after mixing nutes for soil is 6.5-6.8
Lighting intensity for seedlings should be around 15 -18 DLI at around 24-30”. There a free IPhone App called Photon that’s very reliable for measuring DLI and PPFD. Cannabis requires different lighting intensity through the different grow stages . That’s the basics, more involved but this will get you very close.
You will need a scale that can measure to tenths and 100’s of a gram https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HGWFBTV?ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_asin_image&th=1
This one was recommended on the forum and works well
Using Jack’s I found it much easier to do all weights in grams and volume in liters.
@Capt.Cola Thanks dude, that would rock I have a 100g scale that Iv’e been using to divide my stash for my reserve. I agree guys, it’s definitely a must have tool for anything Flower.
I was always a fan of oz(for bud) and grains(for reloading 12g) But I’m going to agree with @beardless. It’s easier with Grams. I don’t know if I can get used to Liters, but hey… anything is possible
I think we Fd that up and now they b chargin for the app and of course the in app purchases but I think sun is still the way to go, defuser for apple non for Android.
In a lot of ways that is what I think. No way am I going to buy 3.785 liters of gasoline or of milk. However, since getting these to measure, mix and transfer I just naturally gravitated to all nutrient solutions in liters. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WPTLCDT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
I use 5 gallon buckets to mix in. Using a permanent marker, I added liter markings on the side.
