Last thread on this was two years ago so I thought I’d drop this here.
Last year, I found a great little decarb/butter making machine. I use it regularly and love it. Easy to use, can decarb couple of ounces at a time, no smell released while processing, I paid $100 for it, and it was worth every cent.
It’s currently selling for $85. If you’re looking for a good machine, this is the one.
I just started using one of those, up to now I was using my instant pot.
I had been doing the oven method, but it was tough to get it right. I love how the Ecru just makes perfect decarb, every time.
I have a similar process my ardent decarboxylation then my infuser does its job, just had this discussion in town, some of us have done the leg work and can only suggest a direction butwe have done that already this is easier than standing at the stove after the oven bakes it 3hrs trying not to boil the butter. Push a button and walk away.
Same one I bought @Fiz , and for $15 cheaper than I paid over a year ago, dangit.
I think it works great. I don’t use the presets, but it’s plenty easy to set your own heat and time. It just works.
I typically decarb one ounce when I’m making capsules for the husband. I use the second preset for that, and it seems effective to me. Since I’m making capsules, I grind the herb very fine before decarbing.
I’ve done flower, but mostly put sugar leaf trim to good use, but I’ve been doing the opposite; leaving it coarse for better heat distribution and then putting it in a nutri-bullet with a grinder blade and turning it all into ooey gooey powder, then into capsules. Whatever works, right?
I actually still have some, been too lazy to pill up more than a few at a time. Turns out like this. Don’t know right from wrong, but I know it does its job!
(Looks clumpy, but it’s just resinous and they fall apart when touched.)
EDIT: Ewww, I see a cat hair!
It looks good! I always go ahead and make around 100 capsules at a time, which is about how many 0 caps get filled with one z.
I had the pleasure of taking some pics the other night and my plant had one of MY hairs on it - and I normally wear it tied back in the plant room!
My sympathies, brother. I was broke for many many years. Once I figured out where all my money was going, I divorced the jerk and now I have enough.
Are these better to use that the classic oven decarb? Been thinking of getting something like this but wasnt sure if its worth it.
Also I feel like im going to mess it up by using an oven
It is very worth it. You set it, it does its thing, nothing burned, no worries. I’ve used it about 10 times with great results every time.
I didn’t think it was easy to do it in an oven. Once it became clear that I would be making capsules for the foreseeable future, I knew I needed a dedicated machine.
Yes walk away you will never go back, the units available now are amazing I use my 2 to make mine and the guess work is gone
