AN bud factor X vs. Terpinator w/ sensi perfect pH line

well i ran out of Advanced nutrients bud factor X finally and just realized they demonized it here in the states because they assumed it contained pesticides that they dont…so now im looking for a replacement…ive had a lot of people tell me terpinator is everyones goto for replacement…any thoughts, factuals or experiences anyone could share.?

I’m an Advanced Nutrients user, but I only bought Bud Factor X once. I didn’t think it was worth the high price tag, and I get the same great results without it.

Hey @nodurxshn what’s in this stuff?? Found some on Amazon. Not sure this is the same stuff but it does have a unlisted special sauce.

Home Hydro Bud Factor X 1L - Advanced Nutrients https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008POVU1Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_9C0F0JK9XE2YPQ5XWQQE

I do something different to get the effects of the Himalayan effect, a UVA light. Without the unknown of the special sauce.

For the price of a liter you can get a couple of these;
Carambola 1000W LED Grow Light - Full Red FR Spectrum w/UV for Indoor Plants Flower Booster https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086W8K1YZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_SF7FRAVR09XN8X7KHAPH

i acttually called advanced nutrients the guy was really hard to understand but he said there is a growth hormone in bud factor x which is illegal in this country so the stockpiles that are in this country are really high in price because its banned and no more will be allowed in the country until they change the recipe.

Bud Factor X contains bio-active ingredients that enhance inherent qualities in plants, coaxing maximum production of terpinoids, resins and essential oils. The components in Bud Factor X were also engineered to maximize yields, not only crop quality. The balanced combination of highly bio-active ingredients maximize resin contents in crops as well as enabling crops to continue at maximize photosynthetic rates when plants normally are forced to “shut-down”. The reduced forms of nitrogen and B-Vitamins in the formulation will also further root development,

from what i understand the active ingredient and the banned ingredient is chitosan i believe, and it increases terps and resin production by taking from growth but supposedly adds weight…i dunno if anyone lives outside the US and wants to ship me some let me know  but im not gonna pay these local hydro prices they goin for $1 per ml and not much better online

Don’t get me wrong, I love Advanced Nutrients. I use almost their full line, and have been for years now, but I call BS on their Bud Factor X unless they’re willing to give more info on WHY it offers the benefits it does.
Based on the back of the bottle in my hand, I have no need for it. I typically don’t ever get deficiencies anymore, and there are far more affordable ways to give my plants a bit of magnesium if necessary. The main issue I have with it is that except for their secret ingredient, my plants are already getting the other benefits they mention from the B-52 and Nirvana, and all the other additives.

good info thanks!, ive been a die hard GH fan since day one, but im loving AN sensi ph perfect line and trying to build my nutrients so i started looking for the whole line i found it all no prob except bud factor X, i personally dont like mixing nutrient brands, grow boss tells me there all the same but im all about brand loyalty so i probably wont substitute ive heard terpinator does the same thing but again i dont like mixing brands …im probably going to just go without its probably not gonna make enough difference to justify the price tag  one of my fem photos turned out to be a auto so looks like all 4 are getting flipped today!

There’s actually a couple of their products that I don’t use anymore. Nothing against them, but over the years I’ve found a few things that work great for me. Instead of Rhino Skin, I use pure silica from NPK Industries. The main reason is because I wrote to both companies to ask about the exact process of mixing in the silica. AN got back to me with a very non descriptive answer. I had asked very specific questions about when the silica should be added based on a lot of things I read, and I got a quick 10 second answer saying it would help to add the Rhino Skin first. I got a personal email from someone at NPK Industries who took the time to answer each of my questions, and explained why I should add their silica to my water first and mix it thoroughly, then wait at least 10 minutes to start adding other nutrients, (I wait 20 minutes). I also think the NPK Industries is a better grade of silica, the plants do great on it.

Another item I replaced with NPK Industries variety is Sensizym. The NPK Enzymes have the same exact 3 enzymes as the Sensizym, but in higher concentrations and for a better price.

And lastly, I no longer use Voodoo Juice, Tarantula, and Piranha. I love all 3 of those products, and I know they work great, but they’re just way too expensive. I use 2 products from Microbe Life Hydroponics instead. Photosynthesis Plus, and Vegetable and Fruit yeild Enhancer. I honestly think they work just as good as the AN microbes and fungi, but for literally 25% of the cost.

So I still use the Connoisseur pH perfect base nutrients, Bud Candy, Bud Ignitor, Big Bud, Overdrive, B-52, Nirvana, Flawless Finish, and Cal/Mag Extra when needed. That’s the combination of products that I feel works the best for me.

wow that is a lot of good info man thank you im def gonna book mark this page, yah my understanding is silica always goes first and i give it 15 to 20 mins to really bond so i dont face lockout isssues with other macros, as far as mycorhyzae i really love Hydroguard. I hear you on the AN prices they get wild in comparison to NPK RAW and GH. ohh hey i have a question you might be able to help with i got AN big bud …but it says its for coco they obv sent wrong stuff i grow in hydro…do you think its a huge issue if i used it?

Does it say “Coco Safe”, or is it the variety specifically for Coco with a more brown colored label?

I used GH Rapid Start the first 2 weeks during seedling followed up with Hydroguard the next 9 weeks. My 5 gallon buckets are stuffed with root galore so 3 weeks ago stop the root protection.
Starting Ripen week on Monday. They are gulping down H2O and I have to fill to the top everyday, running DWC. Hopefully they will stop producing Stigmas but gonna have to pull them anyway to make for the invasion of the clones.

its the brown label

I think the only difference in their Coco line is a bit extra calcium and maybe magnesium. I definitely can’t say for sure because I’m a soil grower, but I think it would be fine to use. @Hellraiser can most likely answer that better than I can. He’s the guy who turned me onto AN a few years ago.

yep same here i do run rapid start the entire grow so i wish it was a little cheaper but my root mass always takes up the entire bucket, i usually cannot free my air stones until chop, i cant say enough good things about GH

very good find…i really liked that article was super informative, thank you

right on thank you for that reply. im going to guess it shouldnt be a big problem im thinking its probably altered just to be able to be used in coco as well but heck im in unfamiliar territory …and now we break out the lemarchand’s Box and wait for @Hellraiser  …speaking of which check out this rubiks cube :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah the coco line has more magnesium, calcium, and iron than the non coco version, should be fine for hydro and will eliminate the need for calmag if you are presently using it to up the calcium and magnesium.

I used Bud Factor X when it was available but after it got hard to find/too expensive I also looked for a replacement. Terpinator or similar products (Snow Storm Ultra, Winter Frost) will help make the buds look the same as Bud Factor X.

right on thanks for the reply thats exactly what i needed to know about big bud coco, as far as terpinator im running the AN ph perfect sensi line, would subbing terpinator for bud factor x create an issue there, because im really loving just dumping my nutes in and watching ph just set it self at 6.0, removing the need to adjust ph levels has been really really nice. im probably overthinking this. i found a 4 L bottle of bud factor X at a local hydro store and its on the shelf for $100 i think i might just grab that its a heck of a deal i dont think the owner knows what hes got or doesnt care

Should be fine, I’d start with half dose of the terpinator just to make sure it’s not too much.

Yeah good price.
