Probably still awesome. So do they have “pure” strains that you can get that you’d feel confident they were “pure”?
Hell yeah. Nice read. Thank you!
I actually never even heard of these things until just now and I’ve been scrolling this forum a lot. It’s very interesting.
Thanks for the conversation. I have only grown strains from ILGM but have looked at RSC offerings. I am curious if you have run into @Cannabian on this forum or elsewhere. He mentions and recommends RSC. Based on his positive comments about RSC I thought seriously about its Afghan 90 @Kat91 , Afghan Mix or Balkhi. The latter for making hashish. In the end, since I have dealt with ILGM, I went with its Afghan.
Interesting. And makes sense. I think some accountability would probably be a good thing. Wasn’t subway sued for not offering a true foot long?
As a consumer, I want to know my money is being spent on what I’m being told it is.
No not at all. RSC’s description of Afghan 90 clearly states it is Dutch-American. I am not a strain geek and I’ve commented before I think that people that name paint colors double for the cannabis / dispensary industry when it comes to choosing names.
Thanks for the info.
Hey thanks for the shout out! Yeah Angus provides the real deal for sure. The Afghan strains will make good smoothe doobie material as well as hashish. The key to good smooth cannabis is in the cure for sure.
One thing to consider when growing landraces, is that they are pretty climate and somewhat latitude and elevation specific. Its best to research the climate, planting season, and harvest season well in advance before you buy seed. That way you have a better than average change of actually getting a harvest.
Plants grown in sub tropical or tropical regions may take forever to finish, as an example, and your climate may not support that. Other considerations is plant shape or size, some of the Afghan plants and especially Nepali type plants can grow stupid tall, like 16 feet or more! You dont want that in a city setting with a 6 foot fence!
If you plant to grow some Thai strains indoors, you pretty much need to kick flowering off as soon as they hit 12 inches tall or you wont have enough room in your grow room.
Lastly, because all of his seed is regular, expect males, this means plant twice as many. You will undoubtedly get some phenotypic variation, but in most cases whats on the description will be fairly typical with a few super plants now and then.
These plants do best in real soil with animal fertilizers, this is because that is traditionally the way they have always been grown. Dont mess with what works. Plant in decent garden soil and ammend with poop, and you will be rewarded with no less than 2 pounds a plant
This is a very typical Afghan bush pre stretch.
I dig old school, the Tashkurghan is a very nice plant, I highly encourage people to grow it. The buds are pretty dense for landrace domesticate, which are typically more open and airy. The smoke is very pleasant as a doobie, many good comments from those that have smoked my weed. The hashish made from it is outstanding, however, I give the edge to Balkh for the power and production.
These are Tashkurghan
Absolutely loving all the info on this thread…I’m fascinated with landrace/domesticate genetics & cultivation and y’all have definitely added so much to my understanding!
Especially interested in this Tashkurgan…I’ve never heard of it but @anon72256435 and @Cannabian have me really curious about its high.
Generally the high is well balanced and not paranoid or anxious. The hashish is tasty and typical of upper mid grade black hashish, the Balkhi makes really strong high grade first run Black hash. A few hits off a pipe and you best be near a couch with beer in hand and the natcho chips in your lap!
Taskurghan hashish
Balkhi … take note the color differences
Sounds like a perfect day to me
That looks like charas…yummy!
Ahhhh yeah, i see the difference in texture & color…thanks for clarifying!
No problem charas is a hand rubbed product, whereas hashish is a sifted or screened product. Charas is pretty contaminated by contrast
Hi @Cannabian, you’ve pretty muted convinced me to try the TashKurgan next year. I’ll probably pop about ten seeds in hopes of getting 2 or 3 nice females. Have you ever heard of Ayawascu/Purple Haze from Mantis in Southern Az? And if you have what do you think? Its supposed to be regular seeds from a land race African Sativa crossed with Purple Haze.
Yeah, makes sense…I’ve seen videos of charas being made and i can definitely see where the contamination could come from! Seems like a pretty messy process haha
Yes I have heard of it but have no experience with it sorry.
Not sure where you live? Malawi might be a tough outdoor if you are northern? Have you grown it before?
Wonderful! Let me know how it goes for you.
