So im currently using pride lands soil which is really great! But it seems to have to many nutrients in it already and i did not mix it with any other soil. Does anyone have any advice on what soil to use for autoflowers and if i should be mixing my soil? I feel like feeding my plants nutes and using soil with so many nutes is overkill because i can see signs of yellowing ect.
Im using ffof and a lot of people love it on here.
Be sure to get a soil specifically buffered for cannabis. Fox Farm products, Roots Organics, Black Magic, and a few others. Stay away from anything made by Miracle Grow, Vigoro, or Scott’s.
Im new to this so im not to familiar with any brands. I will look it up thank you.
I actually bought it from the hydro store its made for cannabis but i just feel like im using to much or should be mixed. But im not having any luck with it so i wanted to try something else. Right on ill look up those brands. Thanks!
I looked up that soil, looks like good stuff. A little bit of yellow on the tips (slight nute burn) is nothing to worry about, is that what your talking about ? You shouldn’t feed anything if the soil still has lots of nutrients, this might be why your having issues ?
Well, it started with a little nute burn so i backed off and gave plain water only. Now i have full yellow leaves which makes me believe that i over watered? The plants were droopy but the pots were light so i figured they were thirsty.
It sais the the nutes in the soil will last up to 5 weeks but started having the problem when i added the nutes.
Don’t give them anything but water. I advise you flush with water only. At least 2x the pot size of ph correct water. Let everything dry out and they should come back. Cannabis is a pretty tough plant. I guess that’s why they call it weed @Smiley1
It might say 5 weeks but it’s not taking into account plant size, pot size, lighting, environment, etc.
A picture of the plant would help
My bad almost 6weeks now. Started doing this to me after i fed nutes cal/mag and bloom. Very little of each.
She looks fine
the bottom leaves will die and are a bit wonky. Just flush her out, get a good ph and ppm digital pens and check her runoff.
Looks great and agree with @beachglass on the few lower leaves. FF coco loco is a great cannabis friendly medium with enough nutes to last 4-5 weeks and as @Dave101 mentioned this is depending on pot and plant size. I grow in 3 gallon pots and start nutrients when the PPMS drop below 800 and this is measured using the run off. I’m growing 2 small ones in 1 gallon pots and started feeding at week 3 unlike the 3 gallon plants at week 5-6. I can’t emphasize run off enough and PH/PPM testing each feeding or watering regardless of the medium you decide to use
I looked and didnt see, what ph and strength (ppm) was the nutrient solution you gave your plants? You mentioned you gave them very little but how much is that?
The leaves doing this clawing (circled in red) suggests nitrogen toxicity.
Lotsa good help up there, just had some questions about the stuff I didnt see.
Well ive been using thus stuff and only used an 1/8 of a tbl and a mil of cal/mag. I havnt checked the run off cause i dont have a ppm pen but i will get one today. Ive been keeping the ph at around 6.2 6.3
Ive also been dealing with high temps because my tent is in my grage. Highest was 96F
Thats not good. You are gonna wanna be able to manage your temps and humidity alot better then that. Im not saying you cant grow in that temp, im just saying that it will be stressful on your plant. Stress is cumulative for Marajuana, and can lead to spontanius sex changes, stalled or stunted growth, as well as degredation of terpeene profile and thc quantity. You are gonna wanna find a way to bring cooler air into your grow space. If you have the ability to seperate driver and light, hang the driver SAFELY outside of your tent.
How do you know that without a ph pen?
If you plan to grow beyond just this one plant, you are gonna want to spend a lil money on that ph pen. At least 50.00, get a blulab or appera ph probe. I use an apera ph60. It was 70 bucks or so and is my second most valued piece of equipment. They make 12 dollar ones but they are soooooo bad! Constant drift and recalabration, drop it once and thats all she wrote. I went through 2 in 6 mnths. The apera is worth twice what I paid. You will also need a tds meter. Here you can spend 12 bucks and be ok, still apera makes a ph/tds combo…think its like 90 bucks.
You want to raise the ph of your liquid and inturn your soil to between 6.5 and 6.8. With a ph that low going into flower you are gonna be on the low end of phos uptake.
This chart shows where the drop offs begin by narrowing the line.
You can remove those damaged bottom leaves, your lady will work and spend energy to repair them, but never will be able to, best to remove damaged leaves when you can, without striping her bare.
Ive never used this soil but if its anything like FoxFarms you are going to need to flush the soil at some point also.
i do have a ph pen but it doesnt measure PPMs only PH. from my understanding thats a different pen correct? The only way i can deal with the temps is moving the tent into the house. Ill see what the wife thinks lol
If just CANT get the temp down keep solid airflow and extra water. When i used HPS/MH I had temp issues here bad in summer. Even venting out window. Not great for them but not a deal breaker if only here and there. Lights at night. Sleep in day.
