Add water to aeroponic system?

From a fellow grower:
I’ve built an aeroponic system and there will be a lot of evaporation. I am assuming that the feeding schedule you provided will work as long as the water is continuously kept at increments of full gallons. Otherwise tests strips will need to be utilized in order to make sure the correct ph values are present.

I am worried about adding water to the system which will be required, as it may create a situation where the water is concentrated and might create a runaway pH.

You need to purchase good pH and ppm testers.
There is no work around for this. If you have gone to all the trouble to build a system then you are going to need to monitor the nutrient levels and pH of the system.
And Welcome to the forum. You will get lots of good help here.

I run a RDWC system. @Spiney_norman is correct you must get a pH meter. The strips are hard to get correct readings from.
I have a float system that adds RO as it lowers due to evaporation and plant use. This prevents concentration of nutrients, but can dilute. The fix is to monitor regularly each day and exchange the water once a week at least. This ensures you have the nutes you want available at the levels they should be at.
Without an automatic fill set up, you would simply do the same thing manually and do the same monitoring of pH and PPM.

We would love to have you on the forum. We also love pictures. There’s not many growers with this form of cultivation. We love experimentation.
Digital ph meter is recommended as it’s more accurate.
Adding water shouldn’t be an issue, just add more water, then adjust ph. A PPM/tds meter should be on hand as well.
Your PH drift will depend on the hardness of your water.
RO water is probably best for that as others have mentioned.
Happy growing. :seedling:

I have really good tap water. @Reticence what float system are you using?

Welcome @Capone911…Covertgrower also likes pictures of dudes in Mancinis to scare off pests in his grow room. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Lmao. I don’t know what a mancini is, but if scares then bugs away I’m in! @MrPeat

@Covertgrower just do a Goggle Search of Mankini. If you saw the movie Borat, you saw a Mankini.

Sorry my bad about the spelling.

I googled mancini and he was an Italian composer. The corrected version makes sense. Lol. @MrPeat

That was my screw up. Did you search Mankini though? There is some real winners there.

I have two of these:

One for my refill reservoir and one for my hydro res. I picked up an Aquatic Life RO Buddy and run it through a shut off valve to the two floats on a “T”. When the water level gets correct in both reservoirs they shut off and the back pressure shuts off the RO.
