A List of Must Haves

Hey all.

First I want to say thank you to everyone who helped with input, on my last topic.

So I think I am set. I am in the midst of ordering my supplies and equipment. Having said that, does anyone have a list of must haves? Like, maybeWhat I mean is are there any nutes / chems / calmag / equipment / whatever that you feel are must haves. Things you feel should be in every growers “toolbox”. Maybe something for a “just in case” scenario - for example “Oh no, My plants are short on (enter deficiency here). Good thing I always have my (enter chemical / nutes here)”.

I hope that last part makes as much sense when you read it as it does in my head while typing it.

Thank you again for all your help!

Welcome ! I feel like if this is something you’re going to continue to do. invest in a quality PH Meter (apera or blue lab) . Also conductivity meter to check TDS . Just my thoughts good luck

Yesterday @Nicky wrote this to someone on this subject

Don’t buy a spider a farmer give me a minute I can help you explain there are cheaper more efficient higher quality lights on the market. Spider farmer is overpriced.

Okay the tent is out of stock right now, it’s a harder size to find so brand doesn’t matter I have a GA and it’s good quality but the vivosuns are fine.

Now you’ll need a light yes, a spider farm is fine don’t get me wrong but they are over priced Chinese sub par quality marketed in North America heavily.
If you want the best and you don’t want to worry about any issues you want a HLG, horticulture lighting group. The size you want is a 320xl Rspec for that tent, so simply typing in “HLG 320xl Rspec” in google will bring you there.
Now if your worried about the cost then you can get the Chinese knockoff that is still better then a spider farmer and it’s cheaper.
You’ll have to go to Alibaba for this and buy one from kingbright, to do this google “320xl kingbrite” click the first link, then click on the categories section once the page loads and go down to the spot that reads “QB288 board 320” then click “LM301B + Epistar 660nm” then click one their all the same. Now when you send your enquiry ensure your getting the 3500k it’s the best from seed to harvest. It’s more work but it’s about half the price.

These boards are more efficient than spider farmers and cost less for what your getting.

As for medium and pots as well as nutrients that’s a person choice.
I strongly recommend you go to autopot USA and buy a 2 or a 4 “Spring pot system” and grow in coco/perlite mix.
Growing in soil is slow, less yeilds more chances for bugs, stunting stress, it’s more work you’ll need to read the run off etc it’s just alot more hassle for less gains really. The joy of the garden is in the garden watching your plants grow and training them not battling with slow growth and soil issues or bugs.

Any quality nutrient can be used but again the cheapest best mix is Jack’s 321. It’s a 3 part dry nutrient that is very easy to mix.

Google Jack’s nutrients, buy a bag of part A, part B and magnesium sulfate can be found anywhere (Epson salts) jsut don’t use any smelly stuff.

Any questions feel free to ask, I hope you can respect the amount of time and effort I put into this reply for you. I can’t link you to the other sites only amazon sale links are allowed due to forum rules.

:point_up_2:t5::point_up_2:t5: Thats a heckuva list.

PH pen
TDS pen
Plant trainers (these 3 especially the ph pen!)

Tent stuff… he covered all that also look into a timer for lights. Very very helpful.

Nutrients! Whatever line up you look into… research it well. You mainly need a veg nutrient (high in N) a bloom nutrient (high in P and K) a CalMag and i always recommend something for your rootzone. Be they microbes (Recharge, Mykos, Tribus), humic or folic acids, rooting vitamins… something you drench your soil with every other feeding just to boost health.

PH up and PH down! If ur going organic, look into natural version… citric acid and the like…

Lighting!!! He spoke on spider farmer… those are lights. Whatever way u decide to go? Dont go the Amazon blurple route! Tons of advice to be found on lighting. Myself? I prefer to DIY build the new fangled LED high efficiency doodads. Some people go HPS/MH. Some just order the new fangledness from HLG or Mars (im not a Mars fan) This is almost the most important decision (cost wise) to make.

Some yellow sticky traps and mosquito bits in case the fungus gnats show up! Sharpie markers for labeling solo cups. A notebook so you can record observations and watering/feeding or start an online journal (there are a bunch of free sites) and add pics and note recommendations and advice you receive here or from other sources. A trimmer or scissors. Rubbing alcohol for disinfecting.

While the gold leaf is a great book, you can’t post links to anything other than amazon if they are selling something.
Only information links with no sales on their website.
It’s been flagged for removal.

I bought my father, my father figure and myself a gold leaf tester book for smoke reports.

Seeds found here ilgm.com

So i had to look up what TDS was. Google says that TDS = Trump Derangement Syndrome. Pretty sure that it not what you meant. What is TDS?

A HUGE thank you to those who helped out with information. I am about to start ordering and I made this post at the last minute, for a “double check everything” kinda check.

Does anyone have any opinion on air purifies vs. in line fans? So the inline fan that @pillsbury posted is one of the ones on amazon that I was looking at. But my wife asked why we couldnt use an air purifier like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KQP68RQ/?coliid=I2XPWVGTNNTWWV&colid=HXDKWBTBKP79&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it.

Any thoughts on this?

Total dissolved solids
