A brand new man

Hello everyone, as my topic and SN might suggest I am both brand new to the world of cultivation and these here forums. I wanted to introduce myself to everyone and maybe explain a bit of why I’m here! In the spirit of thing everyone feel free to call me NewMan :slightly_smiling_face:

I woke up a little over a month ago and had an urge to plant a few seeds I’d collected over a year or so. I germinated about 20 of them, 8 produced a tap root, and of those 8 only 3 have so far survived into their seedling stage. My roommate and I aren’t sure of their strains so we’ve taken to calling them Mila Kunis, Salma Hayek, and Lucy Liu lol. Mila is by far the furthest along, Salma close behind, while Lucy is quite the runt (although her lighting is different)

So anyway, thanks for accepting me into your lovely community, I look forward to purchasing some seeds from Robert and crew, and sharing my experience with y’all!

Welcome to ILGM @NewMan!!
You’ve come to the right place for support. This is by far the best forum for growing cannabis that I have found. Everyone is very helpful and are willing to help anyway they can.
ILGM genetics are great. They have awesome customer support and gauruntee delivery so you can’t go wrong.
Tag me if you need any help. If I don’t know the answer I’ll tag someone who can help.
Happy growing👍

Welcome @NewMan. I have 3 girls growing myself. The first is kind of round and full so I call her boobies, the 2nd has a weird smell so I call her swamp arse, and the 3rd is somewhat young so I call her jail bait.

First time grower here too. This site has been great, and we are all passionate about the same thing. Be sure to check out everyone’s grow journals! I learned a lot.

This is Mila Kunis. She’s a bout a month old. She was only getting sunlight through the window for the first two weeks, now shes had 3 weeks under a 50w led. Im upgrading to a 300w on Friday. I noticed that one of her starter leaves had turned yellow, I don’t know if that’s normal though or if thats a problem. Any guesses?

That sounds about right for her age that the feeder leaves are yellowing. If you don’t have them in hot soil like FFOF you could start thinking about feeding them soon.

Oh that’s good to hear @FreakyDeekie. Thanks for the info. I started them in the miracle-gro moisture control potting mix. I’ve read mixed reviews on using miracle-gro, but we just used it because we had it at our house for tomatoes.

@NewMan I don’t know if anyone has suggested it yet, but get you a good digital pH meter. Checking your water’s pH level is going to be key to a successful grow.

@NewMan that leaf yellowing is a normal thing. Those 2 leafs feed the plant nutrients when they are young. When they start to yellow it is indicating that your plants are starting to get hungry for a feeding.
Have you picked up any nutrients for them yet?
