600w light height

i’ve got a plant flowering in a 4x4 grow tent with 600w light how high should the light be, i feel like it is not performing as well as it should be. should have around 2 weeks left. can i have some tips on what to do please

My basic rule is that if you can hold the back of your hand at the canopy of the plant and not feel the heat, then it is okay. Keep in mind though that having a light too close can produce foxtails on your buds. It also should not be so close so as to deprive the outer parts of your canopy from getting good light. 18 to 24 inches is pretty common for flowering.

One other thing you might think about is whether or not she has been overfed. There is a lot of salt collecting on the sides of that fabric pot. Do you know your PPM?

I copied this to my notes when I was lookin for lights, hope it’s helpful

Here’s a quick reference guide to use as a starting point:

Grow LightClosest~ SunlightFurthest
150W 8″ (20cm) 10″ (25cm) 12″ (30cm)
250W 10″ (25cm) 12″ (30cm) 14″ (35cm)
400W 12″ (30cm) 14″ (35cm) 19″ (48cm)
600W. 14″ (35cm) 16″ (41cm) 25″ (64cm)
1000W 16″ (41cm) 22″ (55cm) 31″ (79cm)

150W – covers 2′ x 2′ (0.6m x 0.6m) area

250W – covers 2′ x 2′ (0.6m x 0.6m) area up to 2.5′ x 2.5′ (0.8m x 0.8m)

400W – covers 3′ x 3′ (0.9m x 0.9m) area up to 3.5′ x 3.5′ (1m x 1m)

600W – covers 3.5′ x 3.5′ (1m x 1m) area up to 4′ x 4′ (1.2m x 1.2m)

1000W – covers 4′ x 4′ (1.2m x 1.2m) area up to 5′ x 5′ (1.5m x 1.5m)

In what respect? Have you used the 600w before and had success with it? Is this actual or label watts?

Wow I must have been high when I first read this I could have sworn it said HID light smh

What type of light is it LED HID CFL?

HID lights

Looks like HPS (high pressure sodium) bulb based on the light spectrum of the photo. The 16 inch hanging height listed above is a good height to use.

Another consideration to keep in mind is that HPS and MH (metal hydride) bulbs require periodic replacement as they gradually loose effectiveness. If you bought a new fixture with bulb you should be good for a year, but if you bought a previously owned light you should probably replace the bulb.

Of course many other factors effect the overall success of your grow, lights are just one of them.

not sure what the ppm would be but that definitely could be a good reason.thankyou appreciate it

appreciate it thankyou
