5 week old outdoor plant question

I’m an indoor grower, but trying one outdoors for a change. My question is, does this look normal for a 5 week old plant, and the reason I ask is, it looks like the limbs are very long, with some foliage at the ends. Indoors everything stays tighter, so I’m not sure is this is normal for outdoors. I topped once. Will this fill in when it starts flowering?

I see its on a cart. Are you moving it around during the day?
How much direct sunlight? All day of just part of the day in direct light?

She looks pretty healthy to me! Outside, you can’t adjust the light. Well, you can it’s just way more work lol. But being able to dial in conditions on a much finer level indoors, plays a huge factor in growth and growth rate. Your gal looks great, no need to worry.

She looks fine for 5 wks. She’ll be limited by the container to what her full outdoor potential could be. My outdoor plants don’t show preflower until the first week of Aug just after the summer Solstice. You’ve got time. If you set that fabric pot in a permanent location the roots will grow through it and help her from drying out in the hotter months and likely grow larger.

It stays in the sun from sun up to sun down. I have it in the cart to keep it off the ground, and to easily move it to the greenhouse in case of rain.

Ah, I see. I figured it would do better off the ground where I could move it if needed, like for rain.

It should do fine. I know you are an excellent grower.

My belief is that you want the rain to water it. Is there something im missing? I understand you dont want it in a torrential downpour and let it get flooded out but rain water is good for plants. I can water my tomato plants with all the different water available but nothing makes them grow like rain does.

When you’re in full flower the colas retain a lot of moisture and with the added threat of bug waste like caterpillar poop, outdoor buds suffer from bud rot sometimes. @MartyMarajuanaseed

I’m not opposed to rain water, but I like to control the watering. And I don’t like the foliage getting wet, especially during flowering. But maybe I’m over caring/thinking. I use well water.

I understand this and will probably be bringing mine onto the porch from time to time for shade and to control how much rain they get. I brought this up for a reason because im being very careful on how much i water them and i got rain today after i watered them yesterday
so, i was concerned but , i can say ,that , as much as i like to care for my plants and water them, I’ve never destroyed a plant by over watering it. Its always been the fertilizers i chose and the amount. Im new to growing cannabis but not new to growing. Its a different ballgame for sure. I need to alter some of my methods.

Overwatering typically shows itself as heavy wilting and sagging (strangely enough the same as underwatering lol).

I think they are going to grow fantastic outdoors. I’ve never grown this amazing and wonderful plant. I’ve only grown tomatoes from the seed. I would germinate in the 2nd week of March and have them ready and willing for the back deck outside by the 2nd week of April and never an issue, other than my phase with Miracle-Gro when i thought more was better. I killed a few tomato plants with the stuff. This is how i learned. I used to live on a farm in my younger days and took care of the plants but, that was just watering and taking care of the bug infestations. The soil was so rich that more fertilizer wasn’t even thought of. We made our own composte heap to cook in the sun, then tilled it into the soil every year. I guess what im trying to say is, growing outdoors is and has been working for years. I’ve been reading up on growing indoors so, im just putting myself in your shoes. It’s a feeling of loss of control for you, i can imagine but, its gonna grow. Just dont pay any attention to her and she will work harder on trying to get it. I know a little.

I had thoughts about that, rain water seeming really good. I think it got a lot to do with slow watering. I thought of that cuz of a soil dump after harvest showed channels that took water and parts that didnt get soaked. Even though I could take 5 minutes to pour it on. But rain is even slower, maybe reaches parts we (me) dont reach with pouring water. And doesnt wash microbes away, maybe, just using my imagination but my thoughts on this lol
