Hey guys and gals. Just went a month and a half without my phone and don’t have a PC, so couldn’t finish my scrog journal. Went well and have a new at two weeks old down there. Started my first tent grow with ILGM Trainwreck seeds. All three popped and are at five weeks now. I topped after six nodes down to the third node. I basically did a four point training method with these. The plants are 14 inches tall with a crapton of bud sites. Question is, how much will they stretch? They look like an indica pheno as the leaf fingers are fairly fat. I’ve got a six and half foot tall tent, so I can think I’m good. Just wondered if anyone had input on Trainwreck.

They can double to triple in size when you put them in the flower they look good and healthy

Thanks @Hogmaster, that put them at most at about about 54 inches above floor and the tent is 78 tall that gives me my 12 inches at the top for my light and filter, and the light being maxxed for the buds. Thanks man!!

Did you say you topped 3 nodes? like… side branches type thing? I’m at 6 nodes give or take, and I’ve topped the actual tops on 4 plants now. Just hoping you can advise me on if I can do this with side nodes? cheers bro
I waited till she grew up to six nodes tall. When I topped her, I cut off the upper half of the plant just above the thrd node. But if you’re asking if you can top side shoots, the answer is yes. When you tie your upoermost top shoots down, your side shoots begin to turn into primary shoots due to the auxins in the plant being redirected. Wait until they have three nodes and you can top them also. Increases the amount of bud sites, but it also slows your grow down due to recovery.

Absolutely. I can’t remember where I read about it. When I topped or fimmed previously, I would only remove the very top new growth. I read somewhere about topping down to the third node and decided to try it with a scrog grow in my previous run along with lst and put them under a screen. Topping like this resulted in much thicker and stronger branches and the lst really opened the plant up to all available light and air circulation. Only topped once, but the amount of bud sites are awesome to see!

I’m thinking of doing a double skrog possibly, not too sure.
To be totally honest I’m not even sure where the bud sites are! I did so much research on equipment and the grow ect that I haven’t even studied the most obvious thing… the plant itself lol
How much did you harvest from your last skrog and how much space did you have dude?
Space on that one was 3.5x3.5 and got about a pound and a quarter off of four plants. Was my first scrog. And I must apologize, I should have used the word cola rather than bud sites. All the new growth tops created by topping and lst will potentially be colas rather than just one large one.

hmmm… was the your first ever grow or just first skrog? I mean if I got 2 pounds… from my tent which is twice the size… id be utterly, amazed and ridiculously happy. I’m hoping to get 20 oz which would only be 2 oz per plant, and I went for the highest yielding strain I could find. Its going well… the thought of getting 20 oz fills me with absolute joy, but 2 pounds? I would be happy to commit myself to doing this for life! (already am considering it)

Just first scrog grow. Been growing for a couple years now. Have had better grows weight Wise, but I’ve also had much worse lol. I’m running a 1000w HID in that room so the weight is not bad, but could be better. I’m running a 600w HID with the Trainwreck trying to get as close as possible to that ever elusive one gram per watt yield and keep the plants from getting too close to lights as I have limited height.

Hmmm you have a 1000w hid in a 1m x 1m tent? damn… how do you manage the heat and humidity? I have a 600w hid, and a few led’s in a tent twice the size, and I really need to get a pound minimum, reckon I can do it?
Just tied the biggest plant down to see if the side shoots will spring up… first time doing anything technique wise, really hoping for the best so I can relocate to a house where the specifications will be “is it a good place to grow” lol

The 1000w HID is in a room downstairs. The growing space and screen are 3.5x3.5, but the room is bigger. I run a 440cfm fan on the outake and 165cfm on an active intake. With it being in the basement, temp max runs around 83 degrees. Humidity only gets higher in the summer, and then I run a dehumidifier. Pretty solid room. That’s all I’ve ever grown in until I got the tent. Currently have two Blue Dream and in Girl Scout Cookies Extreme at two weeks from sprout downstairs right now. Will be preparing them for scrog.
You should be able to reach your goal. Just have have your technique down and have the healthiest plants that you can. It takes trial and error and a whole bunch of research. This forum is a great place to reduce the trial and error and everyone is ready and willing to help. Relax a little and enjoy the ride, I do! I now grow for the love of seeing the plant develop under different techniques and environments. I too am still pretty new at this and learning every day. There are people here that have grown for decades and would put my grows to shame. But I’m having fun, learning, and get the satisfaction of smoking some of the best medicine out there!

Here are the Trainwreck at 23 days into flower. I trimmed up the lower 2/3 of the plant as what I took off was not going to amount to anything. This is a scrog teqnique, but I am not going to put them under a screen. Should be interesting. @McLovin777, you asked what the benefit of topping at the third node after six nodes was. You can see in pic where I topped it, probably three to four inches from the soil base. Every branch that you see now is a primary bud. They won’t be as big as one cola, but experience has shown that they will be denser and heavier as a whole. There are no less than 10-14 primary’s per plant. I can’t wait for this bud to fatten up!!! I think I’m blessed to have even this much success with my first tent grow.

Damnnn nice looking plant there. I’m sort of at a cross roads with mine, not going to skrog and they just seem to be getting bushy as he’ll but not very tall… they have been in the buckets for 6 weeks today! Hoping by 10 weeks of veg the tent will be half full, flower around 8 weeks, so 4 1/2 months! what do you think?
Not sure if I’ve stunted them or what not, or if they just need this long in veg, wish I could speed them up! Next time I’ll try your topping technique 100%
Nice bushes!! Mine are only 24 inches tall from the soil base. I’m running 600w of light at 20 inches from tops of plants. Am using FF trio at full strength every watering. Am currently on week seven feed schedule. I also add FF Open Sesame, Beastie Blooms, and Cha Ching as well as Mammoth P as dictated. Yours look good, just remember that they will double to triple in size during the flowering stretch.
