I was planning on going 4x4 with two HLG 260 xl. I am trying to get around buying two lights. So if I go down to a 3x3 tent would one light be enough for flowering 2-3 plants? If I need to supplement more light what would be my options?

Yes I have. Just make sure you dim it all the way down for seedlings

In my 3x3 i have the XW 320 But the only downside of buying that light is its not really meant for anything other than a 3x3 since its the XW version
You can get different heat sinks from hlg if you ever decided to change your configuration. Like if you ever decided to switch to a 2x4 tent you could order a slate 2 triple heat sink and basically turn the light into a xl

What I am asking is if 1 HLG 260 is gig enough for a 3x3 grow? If not, what smaller light would you recommend adding?

I’d also say that you could still get a 4x4 for upgrades later, you’d still be able to light those plants with the one light, just have more room for your stuff and to walk around in
The heatsink is almost 36” long for a 260xl.

Yeah I wouldnt use the 260 kit that comes from HLG. If I were you @kyle8888 I would buy the separate heatsinks so you can light the 3x3 more evenly. If you buy the 260 kit your light is going to be running down the middle and your edges may suffer a bit once you get the tent full of plants.

Plenty of light. It’s not only covers it I don’t even get close. 24-26” at 70% still bleaches leaves sometimes.
