Just dropped two zkittlez autoflower seeds into water. I used water from the dehumidifier… not sure if that’s a dumb idea or not, but I’ve been watering my plant with it and she’s responding very well… at least there’s no chlorine in it…
Anyways, they’ll be going into a paper towel when they sink, and soil when I get tap roots.
Those things are all the rage around here right now. Good time to learn on a strain. Lots of these guys/gals will have pointed advice if you run into trouble. Good luck!
I actually started a thread about these. I have 1 in a cup of water now but the tail isn’t sprouting yet. Been in there 24 hours now. Might have to put it in a paper towel.
For autos you want more light. 18/6 20/4 is usually preferred. Since they go by age and not photoperiod, more light means more growth, bigger yields. Some auto farmers even do 24 hour light. I like to let my ladies rest though.
Yea, this is a big discussion in the house round here… I got indica autos cuz that’s what I want to smoke for fun. But the wife really benefits from the sativa so that’s the focus. So the autos will grow as best as I can manage on the reverse schedule.
I hardly use paper towels anymore. I drop in a cup of water and usually within 24 hours it has a tail sprouting Nd I drop into the soil. I have an ak47 and a zkittlez both autos in the water though and neither have started to open yet or sprout a tail. So I’m gonna go ahead and put them into some damp paper towels until later when I drop them into some ffof.
Not all seeds will sink. In fact, I’ve never had a seed sink. Typically they pop a tail within 24hrs of soaking and still floating. If they go 48hrs with no tail then I’ll drop them in a paper towel.
@BobbyDigital I had them soak for 24 hours and no tails. They started to sink though. I was gonna put them in paper towels, but I said forget it I’m too lazy. So I dropped the seeds in some FFOF and put them under a light. I’m sure that should be fine and they should start growing, right? The seeds hadn’t even started to open or spread a tail at all…
It may take a bit longer to sprout. I’ve only dropped one in soil that hadn’t sprung a tail and after 4 days of nothing I dug it back up and dropped in back in the shot glass and it sprung a tail about 12hrs later.
7:00 am I poured the water and the sunken seeds on two paper towels. Two paper towels on top, and we’ll keep it moist and hope for the tap root before bedtime tonight.
Taproots are out, so I dropped them in soil at 4:30 today. That’s about 50 hours from dropping them in the water… they spent about 36 of those hours in a paper towel.
They’re in a generic potting mix to start and will be going into soil I mixed when they’re ready. I let it rain into those little pot a few hours ago so they’re wet, no water added after dropping the seeds in.
