it may not matter if you do your grow in the fall if you cant exchange the air fast enough. You should first find out how many cubic feet your room is by length times width times height. Then find out the minimum cfm you need to exchange the air in the specified time.
To exchange the air would I need to buy another 6 inch fan to pull from the outside?
Yeah so if the fan maxed out does 464 cfm, how many cubic feet is your room? And maxed out, how long will it take to repkace the air? That is the big question.
I just did the math and my room is 637 sf give or take
Not necessarily, imagine an intake 6 inches or greater that opens from a cool air source such as outside… that source goes into the room at the bottom corner somewhere. It then gets sucked into your carbon filter and through your sealed hood that your light is in, from there it goes through your fan and down the out pipe to the great outdoors.
Ok thanks bud. So if I don’t get the air cooled hoods then I’m pretty much screwed or can I just pull air in from outside into the room and replace it that way?
Yeah you can for sure, you just need more air flow! If you could double the airflow youd probably be good?
Its all about getting the good air in and the hot air out. You could run 2 x 6 inch fans, one runs at 50 percent all the time and the other kicks in when the heat hits a certain value! It goes 100 percent until the heat goes down to a certain point then shuts off. The closer the standing temperature of the outside air the harder it will be to keep it under control. So if the outside air is 80 degrees! You want to remove hot air you can see a problem here right?
So in summer hot areas guys run air conditioners to cool the air, it gets expensive. Its another reason I only grow indoors through the fall and winter because I use wood heat which is dry, the heat and humidity can be filtered and injected back into my house.
I have an air conditioner that’s plenty big enough in there
It will cost you a fortune to run it to keep the room cool if you cant vent it properly. The worse part is is you pay just to blow it outside! That sucks
It’s just not cooling the air so I guess I’m gonna have to spend another 400 on a fan and filter then.
unfortunately yes
Well that blows big ones. Man I need to go inside and turn these lights off and fire a fatty up I’m to stressed out over this
maybe you can sell or trade for a 10 inch? That would move some air!
Honestly I try to stay to myself so I don’t know anyone that has this kind of stuff which is a bummer cuz I have someone here helping me figure this out lol
well there is a formula that is a general guidline, but I would always beef up on that because you need to control heat and humidity. If you cant do that when plants are in full swing you will lose the whole crop.
I’m guessing you’re not in the states? I’m in the metro Michigan area
is weed legal there now?
I finish my weed in greenhouse
