0 for 5 with a Burpee seed starter

After 1 week in a Burpee seed starter ZERO plants germinated out of 5.
Are the seeds from ILGM bad or does the Bupree leave them too wet?
Very disapointed

I do not have any experience with the Burpee Seed Starter but I have used Robert’s seeds for several years and have had nothing but good results. I would tend to think that the Seed Starter was at fault.

Have on tried 8 plants so far but have not had a single failure on germination yet from ilgm seeds . I just follow the grow bible germ instructions

Same here. Never had an ILGM seed fail. Been a customer for 4 or 5 years. Use the glass of water trick… always works for me.

Its not ilgm genetics I can 100% garunteed you that my friend i as well have not used this particular set up, however if its a self watering set up than yes likely it kept them to wet

I have experimented with Burpee seed starter quite a bit.
The seeds tend to sink much deeper then you originally plant them…then they drown in wet swamp…
Fortunately ILGM seeds made it well 5 of 5 gold leaf and 18 of 20 White widow auto…
But I killed 8 of 10 Oregon OG before I realized what’s happening…
Now I just lay the seeds on top and let the tap root dig itself in…

Thanks for the reminder. I did it that way decades ago.
I left 2 seeds in Water for 2 days and both have a faint tail.
Planting them in a peat cup with starter soil.

Totally agree with your analysis.
I tried to find the seeds that didn’t sprout and instead found lost tap roots that went no where. Felt like an idiot for trusting a “kit”.

Hope ILGM will give me a break next order.

got 5 out of 6 using the wet paper towel method and tap water.

Just germinated 5 of 5 by soaking each seed in a shot glass of tap water I lowered to PH 6.5 with PHDown and AmQuel Plus detox drops.

Thanks for your advice and encouragement.

I now have 5 White Widows that are in full Bud Mode!

I wish I had found this thread earlier. I first off lost five bag seeds… I then tried five of Robert’s seeds (gsc, ww) with the same results. None of the bag seeds made it and of my expensive seeds, none but one came up and it quickly failed. I’ve grown in closets for many years, but I had never used Burpee seed starter… just a heads up for everyone. I’m now back to starting with my usual grow soil.
