:Water to Use For EBB and Flow Hydroponic System"

A customer has a question and I hope we can get some opinions on it, thanks.

“Should I use reverse osmosis filter or reverse osmosis water or distilled water for system as some growers suggest? Others say distilled water for sure is not advisable and reverse osmosis water or filtered water unnecessary. I buy spring water by the dispenser jug that I can use or tap water. I need advice about the water to use for ebb and flow hydroponic system.”

This greatly depends on your water quality, To better track nutrients and monitor distilled or RO water are superior only in that they start with nothing in them and you control what they have in them. A tap water with a ppm of 100-200 is usable once de-chlorinated simple airstone overnight usually does the trick. Ideally you want to start with a water with low to no ppm and add what you want to it giving you control even at low ppm as plants get larger and ppm is raised the source water ppm is less critical but if it starts much higher than 200 ppm find a better source or buy a filter
