The Traveling Grower - The Struggle From the Road

The right equipment is a must for high quality buds

Happy Sunday to all of you! Hopefully most of you get tomorrow off from work like I do.

Today is the 141st day since the seeds sprouted, the 79th day since the lights were switched to 12/12, and the 63rd day since I first noticed flowers. This marks the completion of 8 weeks in flower and the start of the 9th week of flower.

Today I emptied both totes as completely as possible and filled them with plain tap water and 10ml of Florakleen per gallon (80ml in each tote). Took a bit to get the PH back down (tap water at 6.3 plus all the Florakleen and my PH was around 10). I set both plants at 6.3 PH and didn’t bother checking PPMs.

I had the kidling down in the garden with my yesterday since she wanted to help - I let her water the clone. And then I forgot to put the clone back in the tent so it sat in the cold, damp, dark basement for 24 hours with intermittent basement light whenever I went down there to smoke a bowl.

No harm done I guess.

Trying to take some pics with the doors open and from different angles. Trying to up my bud porn game.

Spent some time with the new scope and tripod this morning as well - seeing a lot of cloudy, a handful of amber, and a bunch of clear trichomes still. I’ll post trichome pics next (they are on my laptop).

Omg, anyone that grows sativa has to really appreciate that ssh pic. On top of the frost, look at how tight they look, and even the sugar leaves wanting that light.

They are rock hard - I don’t think I’ve ever even purchased buds as dense as them. I can’t wait to try some. I clipped a small bit of GL a few days ago and dried it - smoked it last night. Holy crap. That stuff is going to be some excellent 8pm smoke.

I could only imagine! Even the clone has turned into a little plumper lol. I remember when you decided to start giving it some attention. Thought was maybe you’d get a couple of grams. I’m sure she’s surpassed that already.

Yeah I was thinking if I got 5-7 grams off of her that would be a serious bonus. I’d be happy with 2! In any case that’s been a cool little experiment - glad I did it.

Me too! They really get underestimated in terms of production vs space when you start talking about running untrained plants. Imagine having a half dozen of them that received full care running down the middle of your tent like you were talking.

Exactly - if I had 6 of those running down the middle of the tent that would be like having a third plant! I’ll probably get some 4" pipe and build something during this next run. I have to see how the space plays out because I am going to do things radically different on this grow.

Those ladies are looking particularly delicious this morning. @Bogleg I have a question though. Everyone takes these great pics of their plants and I love looking at them but I can never quite figure out when I am looking at them about how big the colas are, they look huge to me but proportion is so hard for me to figure when I am looking at things like this. Anyway, they look amazing! :green_heart: :seedling:

Sweet! Anxious to see what you’ll be doing. From the looks of this one it doesn’t appear you left a whole lot out there.

If you look at this pic:

As a reference point, the space between the bottom net and the top net on that SCROG is 6". So judging based on that, you can see that the tallest colas are in the 4-8" above the top net (and of course the extend down into the canopy).

Cool, and thanks @Bogleg :grinning:

That’s a good point and excellent question. If you don’t see them in reference it’s very difficult to tell. They’re definitely more like pop bottle tops than bic lighter. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if a few of the gl colas would give a football a run for its money lol.

I think I’ll take a ruler down there and measure a couple of them. Somewhat ironically the tallest one on the plant is the one I did the back-building/bud-stacking experiment on.

@Donaldj has some of them neat little tricks up his sleeve! I definitely learned something there as well.

Okay, now I will break some perceptions. Haha!

@dbrn32 the above pic is the tall cola in the front of the tent.

This next pic is of the cola I snipped way-back-when:slight_smile:

And here you can see one of the “twins” as I like to think of them. They are the two similar sized colas that I routinely take pics of:

And lastly, the SSH cola that I take pics of every day:

The angle is odd on that pic but you get the idea.

WOWOWOWOW!!! Awesome and thanks for the perspective!! :green_heart: :seedling:

Haha ok, football was pushing it. But they’re definitely bottle sized.

I’ve decided (and by that I mean I’m like 75% decided) that on my next run I am going to mainline the blackberry kush. I’m going to try and see how big I can grow an 8 cola plant. I’ll try for footballs on that plant.

I hope you get them too!
