Seeds and US Customs

#1

First time buyer here. My order is on the way but I’m wondering what happens if the package is intercepted at customs. Do they just seize the seeds or are they more difficult?

#2

They sieze it and send you a letter
They cant really do anything more than that since they have no way of proving you ordered anything ive only spoken to a hand full of people this has even happened to
Iglm will reship order if that happens
You may wish to provide a alternative address tho
Happy growing
Woohoo waiting fir beans is the tuff part lol
Guess we where typing at the same time @bob31

#3

@Santiago Apparently all they do is destroy them. They used to send letters to the addressed person and tell them they were seized, but I haven’t heard anyone getting one of those letters in quite awhile. I have only seen a small percentage of folks not receive their seeds and ILGM sends a new order after 25 business days in case that happens.

Hope that helps?

#4

They take the seeds an germinate them at home those buggers @bob31… Lol

#5

Hahahaa you think so @Zombo
Every customs agent has a tent at home
That would be too funny

#6

I remember a cop had pulled a friend of mine over years ago and gave him a 25 ticket for buying weed in a park…he smelled the bag of weed in front of him and said " hmmm, nice" and then put it in his top shirt pocket… He might have taken that home? Don’t know @Countryboyjvd1971…lol

Thanks to all who replied. I didn’t think they would make a federal case
about it but wanted to hear others thoughts.
Grateful to you all. :sunglasses:

Even if your in a legal state… never get seeds or any other growing equipment sent to where you plan on growing…
Use another address…
:v: :sunglasses:

They have bigger fish to fry then us lowly pot growers. I live in a legal state but customs is federally operated, so they have to go by federal law. And MJ is illegal by federal statue

I have some coming too, but no worries. If they don’t make it through then they will just resend them and probably give you more stuff if that happens.

What if you don’t have another address? I don’t want to involve any friends and I certainly don’t want to have them sent to another family member. Kinda violates rule #1 about growing doesn’t it?

I could get a P O Box but would that really help that much?

Also…while we’re on the subject of purchasing seeds, do most of you guys just stick a few hundred dollar bills in an envelope and mail it overseas to the company and hope the seeds arrive? Anyone ever use a credit card to purchase? Robert says it is very stealth and a very nondescript transaction, so if we’re trusting that they are sent in unmarked & untraceable packaging (which everyone says they are-not doubting that at all) then shouldn’t credit card transactions be just as stealth and safe? Maybe its just the cyniscism? in me, or the fact that I am retired and living on social security, but I am kind of reluctant to stuff a few hundred dollar bills in an envelope and mail them off. This is most definitely not a knock against ILGM at all, and I hope it’s not taken that way. This is more of a knock against the hurdles I have to go through to purchase seeds and supplies.

I have personally sent cash and have no problems at all. You can select cash when ordering and just follow the instructions… I buy a cheap birthday card and wrap the cash on aluminum foil… Never had problem… Hope that helps @TxFlyer

#12

I’m very careful as well… I wouldn’t use credit card cause my bank needs to be notified and I feel it’s better with cash. I have had all my supplies for growing sent to my home… I do see where sending it to another adders would be cool, but I don’t have that option…Maybe seeds to a po box would be cool…

#13

I used my capital one card, bang 7 days later seeds in norther mn

#14

@TxFlyer I sent cash on my first purchase, sure I was a bit skeptical, but figured I lost that much the weekend before at the casino, so why not take the gamble. It paid off and still is… I have used a card at another site with no issues…

@Zombo @Happygrow @Ron330
Thanks for the replies! Feeling better now about CC.
Wife and I travel quite a bit so I call the credit companies a few times a year and let them know that I might be using card in foreign countries, so I don’t think that would raise a flag with them.

#16

Been there before! I rarely gamble nowadays…mostly just when we go on cruises and such. Wife gambles enough for the both of us.
Heard this somewhere and it certainly applies to my way of thinking…

“I can’t win enough to really excite me but I can certainly lose enough to really pi$$ me off!”

@TxFlyer

I’ve experienced the whole gambit.

First off, as far as payment, I used a visa travel card that I got at my local AAA branch. It cost me a one time fee of $10 because I’m not a member but it is reloadable. It works for international transactions and doesn’t get your bank involved.

Secondly, I experienced, what I believe, was a seizure with my first order. No letter, they just never arrived. I contacted ILGM after 25 business days and they reshipped no questions asked. They even gave me a discount on my next order for my inconvenience.

This is my first grow and the hardest part, by far, was waiting for my seeds. You’ll get your seeds and if they get seized, ILGM will make it right.

If you live in California, on Jan 1 you can just walk into a dispensary cash in hand and walk out with seeds or clones. They sell them now legally but you need a doctor letter. If you live in or near a legal state, you can probably do something like that.

But ILGM has NEVER had a problem with cash in a card.

Buy anything for growing at Amazon and they won’t stop sending weed growing supply ads! Their computer knows you are growing and they just see it as another sales opportunity.

I was just looking at visa/mc debit cards supposedly for international travel today at a $general store today, refillable for $2.95 [quote=“SilentHippie, post:17, topic:16743”]
