Well guys and gals, I decided to jump in and start a journal. Thanks @bob31. I’m an old fart with a young mind and open to learning new things. I started partaking in the early to mid 70’s so that kind of gives you an idea how old I am. I just recently purchased some Gold Leaf and Northern Lights seeds and hope to be successful with growing my own indoors. I currently live Texas so I have to be a bit stealthy with my garden. I have a Nursery/Veg room in a 4’x4’x6’ grow box or tent with (1) 600 Watt HPS light in an air cooled Lil Hood fixture. I have converted one of our bathrooms into my flowering room. It has (2) 600 Watt lights that are connected by ducting with the air cooled boxes sucking filtered air from my attic and then discharged back into the attic. I have a 12" and a 4" fan to assist with air circulation. I germinated 2 GL and 3 NL seeds about three weeks ago and have them in soil about 16" from the light. I will receive my ph/ec/tds meter in two days. Two of the girls are showing too much water or a ph issue so when the meters comes I will adjust accordingly. By the way, I didn’t have enough holes in my solo cup and water wasn’t draining very well. Pics soon to come once I figure out how to do that.
I forgot to mention I am using a Homemedics 1.7 gallon humidifier with hot or cold mist and I am not currently using CO2.

There ya go folks. You can see the brown leaves on the third picture. I hate flying blind and not having the correct meters to see what’s going on in the soil. I’m shooting for 6-6.5ph. The pool test kit I have sucks.
They are pretty girls. I would transplant at least the girls in solo cups as the root systems amazing.
I was wondering about that @Laurap. I already transplanted one of the girls before she died early on after germination. I neglected to cut enough holes in the cup and between me and my girlfriend they were getting too much love (water).
Its easy to overwater and become rootbound. I would transplant. Some here gradually transplant a little at a time. I on other hand go into 5 gallon as it works for me. Robert has a soil guide i use for watering . i just water around stem approx 300ish ml & gradually increase volume according to their growth. They love to be misted all thru veg. Use your knuckle to check for dryness and wait on nutes till you loose original node or 4th - 5th set of true leaves. Your doing a good job !
Thanks Laurap. I will have to order more cloth pots because the ones I have are 15 gallon. I guess I could use a conventional pot to transplant the girls into but I’ve always liked the cloth pots.
Are you going outside with them? Asking due to size. Yeah i dont like anything else but fabric pots. Amazon can have smaller ones in a couple days to ya.
@Flyr Awesome that you did this! I figured you just need a nudge. You and I are about the same age. I started partaking in the early to mid 70’s and everything came to a screeching halt when I went into the Army in 1978 and was subjected to numerous/ frequent urine tests!
My state of MA legalized at the beginning of 2017 and I had retired a couple of years earlier and I was going through a lot of pain issues (etc) and said hey, why not give it another go! hahaha I’m sold!

@bob31 and @Flyr Got you 2 beat! I’m old enough to almost be your Mothers. I started in 1966 and have never had any regrets only a lot of laughs! Oh the difference between then and now. Lived in a commune in the mountains of San Diego County and would go back in a flash. Those were the daze my friends! 
@highcountrygal, I bet you’ve got some stories. A real Commune? Living life to the fullest. I was born in Venezuela, my father worked in the oil business so we traveled quite a bit. I can only imagine what life was like the in San Diego County. No wonder your girls are the sized of trees. You’ve got the nack. I was lucky enough to sample different strains while traveling unbeknownst to my dad. @bob31, When I got older and graduated from school (Oceanography) I went back to school and became a Commercial Saturation Diver working with different Oil Companies so Bob, I too had to slow down from smoking. I did that for 20 years. I’ve got all my fingers and most of my sanity so I feel real luck. This new growing adventure has turned out to be a godsend. What a great group of folks. Thanks
@Hogmaster, I had no idea you could do that. I figured one would turn to a male. Of course not with the new genetics.
The mark 5 on the right was used many many years ago. The Superlite 17 on the left is still be used. Or a newer version of it anyway. It paid the bills.
