I have a friend that is able to get me a clone of a type of plant that I wanted to try growing. the problem I have right now, im moving, and will be living in a RV for a few months till my house is finished.
I live in the Chicago area, and we have a few months till it starts getting cold out, but the sun will be shorter.
Without having a light set up, is there a way for me to keep the plant alive till I am able to get my lights set up, or will it be a waste of time? I wont have the house done till dec or Jan.
So that means I can leave them outside for a short while, but than have to move them inside as it is getting colder.
They are able to send the plants now, but i am just thinking its a waste of time, they are not sure if they are going to be able to get the clones in the the spring.
Any answers positive or negative are both welcome, and thanks!!
Clones don’t require a whole lot of light. A single CFL or small led light will keep them alive. If you can swing something like that I wouldn’t worry too much about the light. I would be more concerned about controlling growth, a couple months is a pretty long time.
I don’t think growing under 1 cfl will produce growth fast. My plants took forever to grow until I added 4 more cfl’s. So if you want to just keep them alive I would say 1 even 2 cfl’s would be ok considering these are cfl’s for your home and maybe 13W each. If its a grow cfl in the actual 60W Its going to grow out of hand without some LST.
Good thinking on specifying type of cfl, I wasn’t thinking that deep into it.
Thank you, you two. So sounds like it might be possible! I was thinking that I could leave it outside for at least a month or so before id have to bring it in the RV. Or even leave it out during the day, and at night bring it in and leave it under a light all night.
I have grown indoors and have had ok results.
Last year I grew outdoors and had what I think very good results, but this year is less than ok.
So i am still learning.
I know as soon as we are moved in I will be able to set up some light for proper light for the plant.
